Little gothic moated castle converted into the renaissance residence, less than 30 km away North-West from my home.I could not help the sharp sunlight and it's consequences.Yet the place is very nice.
This Inca woman vendor in the market in Puno saw me coming from a mile away. We walked in a group and somehow, I stuck out like a sore thumb since I had the camera in the hand with me. I really liked the setting, the blue color of the walls, the blue shutters of the neighboring stalls, and her mostly blue outfit but yet, yellow/gold/brown colors or her hat, She was fine with me taking a few pictures of her but her expression was too stiff and unnatural. So, I moved on. After awhile later, our guide took us back to the same area but on the next alley. So, I used the opportunity and did sneak back to that alley alone and snapped this image while she was dozing off. Her neighbors across the alley alerted her and we all laughed. I thanked her and nodded and, finally left the scene.

Peire, for various reasons I can't travel far from home in this period of my life but for sure as soon as possible I'd like to visit those places ... you're doing a great job for the local tourism office
Welcome back Werner! Hope you continue to post here even though you got a new toy.
A couple shots from this morning. The MFD of the Sony 100-400 is one of the reasons I am keeping it even though I pre-ordered the 200-600. You all have a great weekend.
It's late winter and the snow storms and dust storms now subside in the middle of the day. Valley floor is 3700m, the 'just over there' mountains around 5500-6000m. Two women, barely identifiable in the huge scene brightness range, huddle with their baskets. It feels like paradise after the minus 45C of a few weeks earlier. India built them a hydro scheme, but water has to flow for it to work.
The western edge of the Tibetan Cultural World, one of the more atmospheric monasteries high in the alpine zone, 4000m. Power poles but no power, light bulb for a few hours at night. Winter health problems, they use an army helicopter. 5-6 feet of snow for 5-6 months. A lot of folks here get cold temps in the northern hemisphere but alpine cold eats you alive.
