Those of you that travel with family know that squeezing in some dedicated photography time is sometimes difficult. Fortunately, the evening that I chose as my photography time paid off. One of the best views of Santa Fe during sunset can be found up top a small hill where you'll find Cross of the Martyrs. The sunset didn't disappoint. This was the best light during my entire trip.
It snowed a few days later. Unfortunately I couldn't make it out to this location to shoot the town covered in snow during the day but I'm still grateful that I had the opportunity to capture this sunset shot.

Thank you! I agree. I think providing some background helps complete the story. Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you Jim! I've been very happy with the 24mm TSE. I'm using a MB IV adapter but I might try the MC11. I've noticed some loss of sharpness when shooting panos using the shift feature at the extreme ends. You and Bob have peaked my interest again for the Loxia 35. I'm also interested in the CV40 as an alternative.
The MC-11 is supposed to be much better than the MB adapters with their reputation for exaggerated edge effects. I've not used MB, but all my Canon EF lenses work great on the Sigma adapter.
I agree that there seems to be a mini-renaissance occurring on the Sony forum regarding the Loxia 35. I know Mattieu has been using it, and I'm sure I recall some other prominent shooters mentioning it recently. It just suits me so well with its color and natural rendition -- I almost always only use CA correction, but no lens profile or elimination of vignetting.
I see good things posted, taken with the CV 40/1.2, but it doesn't really ring my bell -- seems like a waste if I want more DOF. I think I'd prefer a quality AF lens at that focal length, and since I already have the 45 TSE and the 40 STM, the only one that looks appealing image-wise is the monstrous Sigma 40/1.4 Art! (I'm not a fan of the Batis line, so that's out.)
Anyhow, thanks for all your innovative shots of buildings and the wild places.

Thank you so much Jim. Good to hear that the MC11 pairs well with the Canon TSE lenses. Sure would like to own the 45 and 17.
Surprisingly there are still some decaying houses left in town center, even though land is very expensive. These are so old that the toilets were outside!

Dashboard Confessional fans anyone? I'm not all that familiar with their work even though I was in college when they first became big; the name was familiar to me though.

David -- Terrific shot here of the azalea stairs (and your earlier tumbling stream!). And just after I said the CV 40 not being for me! Hmmmm.
Todd -- Great shots of the bride.
Helena -- Thanks for beautifully exploring the neglected nooks and crannies.

Thanks Jim! I wanted a good ‘normal’ lens with great bokeh. I started with the FE 50mm 1.4 ZA, but find its bokeh too edgy to quench my thirst so, wanting to keep weight and size reasonable, my next stop was CV 40mm. And I think it has got what I was looking for. We’ll see though...only had it less than a week.
Sigma 40mm Art looks very appealing. Huge and heavy, but may have amazing image quality...might get one myself if good things from it start showing up here.
