FE 85/1.8. At 4290m this was the low point of the day's travel, after previous night at 4500m Tso Moriri. 6000m mountain in the distance towers over the 5300m Baralacha La. Two more from this lens below.
Hallo René.
Wonderful pictures from the beautiful mountains around Zermatt.
And the Steinbock is really so close? Amazing!
I really would love to go to take some great shots of Ibex ( Steinbock) there or in Graubünden soon.
Thank you for your very friendly comment.
the ibex family was about 80 meters away from our 'path'. then I could approach to about 40 meters. do not want to disturb the peace. the picture is cropped. a 70-200 would have been ideal. ideal in the sense of the photo. less ideal in terms of size and weight in this area. the place is for hiker and less for photographers.
the photographers are far inferior to the ibexes in the area. if you need more information. gladly also by PM

Some of us might say that too many puffins are barely enough.
Out of interest, is that a tag on the right leg of the puffin in the third photograph?
Yes you are correct, it is a tag. Whilst these birds are wild I noticed that many of them had tags. There was a temporary research station setup on the island too in one of the old ruins (uninhabited island) so I’m guessing they tag and monitor some of them maybe? To see if they come back each year and how often. There was some interesting facts presented on the boat to the island such as some puffins live for 40+ years so I guess the only way they can find this out is by tagging and monitoring. I’m no expert though?
Went out to mostly do surfing shots with the A9 yesterday, ut took the A7R3 and Canon 16-35 f/4L IS as well as 100-400 GM as well. I didn't plan on doing much landscape shots in the middle of the day but couldn't resist with the nice rockpools. I only had a polarizer but really needed at 2 stop ND. Had to use ISO 50 to get the shutter speed slow enough, but I guess I gave up some DR, as I had a bit of clipping in the highlights despite having used highlight metering. Live and learn. Loving the IQ of the 100-400 GM
Sea gulls didn't want to move, one gave me a gob fiull and stood his ground.
