Here are some images that I took last evening with my A7r and my Minolta CLE MC 40mm f2.8 M-Rokkor lens set to f11 in Magic Hour and around sunset. Images processed in LR5.4 and taken of Swabia Creek, Lock Ridge Park, Alburtis, PA; remnants of the Carpentry Shop at Lock Ridge Park; and looking across the remnants of a farmer's cut and harvested corn field in Lower Macungie Twp, PA. For the last image I added some additional orange and additional ND in the sky as I would have had I had the time for using my Coral Blender, Sunset, and ND Grad filters.

wow Sebboh,
G28 going much better, what's happened?
lens works fine for certain types of shooting. I extended the infinity stop from 2ft to ~10ft so I can do hyperfocal landscapes and street shooting with it now.
it really is a special lens with regard to micro contrast. even stronger than the g45, but with less harshness. I should probably make a color correction profile for it on the a7.

how can you manage this change? so curious about

one with OM 50mm f1,8 wide open, as usual.
my calla is growing day by day, the spider walking about and my dog always in background
love this Oly oof ...

i saw something similar with my rokkor 24/2.8, huge field curvature that i showed in an aperture series comparing the lens focused on the corner versus focused in the center. i went back and double checked my images with it on film though, and the same field curvature was present there as well. similarly, my rokkor 28/2 has a pretty flat field on both film and my a7.
I wasted half an hour of shooting time today to study the field curvature of Distagon 2.8/28 C/Y with A7. To my surprise, and relief, the field curvature is much smaller with A7 than it was with A7r on earlier shoots. Also the blurred corner area is much smaller with A7. Summer is saved finally found nice 28mm to pair with A7.
PS. Your G28 looks great, all other samples I have seen have had horrible corners.
Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/28 C/Y @ f/4, 1/100s, Sony A7 @ ISO 200, B+W Circular Polarizer 55mm
Crop from top left: much "milder" field curvature than with A7r, with A7r corner would have been focused to >10m/30feet in this kind of situation.
The little I have tried the CY28 it's great (on the A7).
With rgds to the G28 I see no difference in sebboh's shots than e.g. my copy. It IS bad in corners but worthwhile as some other "bad lenses" for certain type of photography. Like the CV15/4.5 for instance. The tiny package does compensate a bit.
(what a speedy thread, cant keep up but so many great shots)

Have you tried the ZF 28? I wonder if some lens designs would actually have their field curvature *fixed* by the A7/A7R

I tried ZE 28 in November/December, but didn't shoot much with it. The round aperture in 28mm ZE/ZF is nice, but otherwise I like 2.8/28 C/Y rendering more. Also I find C/Y 1.4/50 rendering better, but I'll be missing round aperture of ZE/ZF-version even more than with 28mm.

i transplanted my g28 to a rokkor 55/1.7 helicoid a while ago because i much prefer having a real focus ring to on adapter focusing. this allows me to use the fairly well designed rokkor infinity stop adjustment as well.
here's a quick snap of my modded copy on camera:

correct, i did not magically get rid of any of the g28's issues. here's what the performance looks like at f/11 with just adobe defaults applied:
and 100% crops from the red boxes starting at the corner and going towards the center:
and an unrelated flower shot with the rokkor 58/1.2 and raven shot with the leica R 350/4.8:
