Not happening. Won't happen until Sony can fix all the problems and flaws and bring out some seriously good/compact/fast native lenses … and that is practically an impossibility. Non-native MF or big/heavy lenses do not work for me anymore. Right now I am in Seventh Heaven with the Nocticron and the upcoming Zuiko 40-150/2.8 and 300/4 lenses for my E-M1. Having an enjoyable photographic experience with a compact system is far more important to me than chasing after the ultimate IQ. I am doing this to have fun and not to impress photo technocrats.

I agree and that's the main reason I am not using a medium format camera back . Just kidding.
Clearly, I could have left 2 lenses plus my 5D Mark III at home on this landscape-geared trip. Every single shot was composed and focused manually on a tripod anyway. BTW, the A7r is lighter and more compact than the Oly E-M1 .

I was talking about a total systems weight and not just body size/weight alone. I would very shocked if you tell me that the Sony/Canon equivalent AF lenses can be as compact and as light as the following combo ... which will be my near-future (2015) kit:
E-M1 x 2 bodies
Summilux 15/1.7
Nocticron 42.5/1.2
M. Zuiko 75/1.8
M. Zuiko 7-14/2.8
M. Zuiko 12-40/2.8
M. Zuiko 40-150/2.8
M. Zuiko 300/4
These are all super-high-grade lenses i.e. as good as or better than any Canon L-series or Nikon G lenses. I believe I can fit all the above lenses in one Think Tank backpack. No way that I can do with a Sony/Canon combo.
Clearly, there isn't any system out there that can be universally considered the best for everybody. The requirement, the preference, the tolerance to weight/bulk, the type of photography and the shooting conditions for each session/trip, etc., etc. vary widely from person to person. Plus, the shooting conditions for each session/trip or whatever will dictate what equipment you want to take/use. Like you said, the main thing is we are having fun doing what we like/enjoy and we will keep it at that.
Agreed! We all have very different needs/wants and preferences.

Alex Theodin let me test his copy and I think that it is okay at f/11. There corners are far from perfect but not too bad either, vignetting will have to be corrected but not nearly as bad as CV15 and the color shift is not too pronounced either. I am thinking about getting one. My Canon FD 2.8/20 has better corners and no of the other issues but I would like to have a really small kit as well as one for best quality.
awesome, thanks!
that looks like it'll be good enough for me on the rare occasion i actually want a 21mm.

yeah, thank god i don't want AF or zooms. my kit is much lighter than that one the rare occasions i want a kit rather than just one lens and one camera. if i wanted AF though, there is no way i'd be shooting an a7/rx1 combo now.
on that note, here's some birds shot with horribly oversized lenses around my neighborhood.
I believe Flickr is doing you a disservice by applying some sort of over sharpening.
Thank you
Upon closer inspection, I believe you're right. The original files seem fine, so I'll try to get to the bottom of the over-sharpening. Thanks for the head's up!

I guess it depends on your threshold, but considering how careful Philip is with his lenses, I can only say that my copy is much worse than the one he tried. Be careful withsample variation!
