Pictures of the dragonfly .. I think that's the species dragonfly is Odonata
Bigger species of dragonsflies and they are very fast .. they play and chase each other
That picture is on a female ... and sometimes they stand still in the air( A very short while )
Waiting for the males so that they can hook into each other and mate
Unfortunately I did not get any picture that is good on that. Should you manage to get a good picture of this then they will probably sit in one place and not fly in the air
My flight pictures I took the dragonflies yesterday .. I took 72 pictures
Is probably between 7-8 pieces that are pretty good in focus ...
Here's a failed picture of what I wrote about ( sry for the bad shot )

Hi Ronny - so many awesome Dragonfly shots over the past few pages !
I hope you don't mind but just a correction re. the above. 'Odonata is actually the Latin name for all dragonflies. Which includes Dragonflies and Damselflies. Damselflies are the thin, delicate ones, with two sets of wings that close when resting. Dragonflies are the bigger, very powerful, fast flyers that rest with their two sets of wings open or hanging down.
Sorry I don't know what sub-species your dragonflies are - I couldn't find them in Jill Selby's Dragonflies of the World
From Chicago to Minneapolis. First one is c/y 28mm f2.8 with a recently found kodachrome 64 lightroom preset and I am loving the subtle look it has to it. Second is loxia 50 at lake calhoun and my regular editting.
