Some of you may remember the massive earthquake, 2 years ago, that killed thousands of people (inc. many Everest climbers and those at Base Camp) and devastated Nepal. Tourists are now returning in their thousands, a Godsend to the country, but areas of even the capital city, Kathmandu, remain in ruins due to lack of funds, skilled people and Govt. support.
One of the most famous areas of Kathmandu, Durbar Square (an area, rather than just a square per se.) is still in ruins. Although the main tourist area looks better as soon as you walk around the dilapidated back streets the full effects of the earthquake remain in clear focus. Most tourist photos will obviously not show these locations and the devastation.
All shots with A7rii and the Batis 85/1.8 or Loxia 21/2.8.
Clever Dog. This area has been designated free of potential falling debris which happens and continues to present a danger to residents (and which I witnessed).
Here are a few 'normal' shots of Durbar Square.
This guy, seemingly homeless, is providing a service maintaining this religious artifact for which people are tipping him.
Young girls/toddlers wear makeup just like their mothers.
