I came out of this show with way too many photos. Sean (Har Mar Superstar) is an incredible performer, with a ton of energy and charisma. Probably the best show I've seen and photographed at this venue, and I've seen a lot (100+?). Never seen anyone climb the bar here, it was wild! If you're not familiar with Har Mar, you might be a little confused why 200 people would have been crammed into this small bar to see him perform, but I'd recommend it to you if you get the chance.
I've seen Har Mar perform at a larger outdoor venue before. Just not the same. There's nothing like seeing a real performer in an intimate space. I've seen so many acts in small venues over the last few years and it's made me completely lose interest in seeing even my favorite bands play in huge venues.
Lots of obstacles for this show - none of the space I'm used to having for moving around and a lot of other photographers prowling the place, including a few heavy flash users and one guy with a bright white AF assist light that'd go off every frame. The latter can drive me nuts sometimes, but sometimes it's like having a non-deterministic off-camera flash setup you get to play with. I love how it worked out in the first image, despite it being out of focus. Also works well in B&W, bit of a noir or Star Trek Original Series look.

Ha!! You know I'm a 50 guy!! Couldn't pass this one up. It's just too nice! But, I'll have you know, I've been without a 35mm for a long time! So thanks to you, Phillipe and PeterT, I picked up Ryan Karr's CV 35 Ultron VM...unfortunately, I'll be in Tahoe when it arrives, so I'll have to wait till next week!!
The 50 1.4 looks very impressive Gregg and I am sure you will enjoy the Ultron 35. I feel obliged to post a couple with the 35 from a couple of months ago.
PS: How many lenses have you got now Gregg? (on second thoughts, probably best not to answer that!!)
Bahahahahhaha...
I will never tell!! I will say I wish I had Peire's collection! I keep mine down to a standard less than 10...although, I must admit, there are WAY TOO MANY lenses and not enough time!!
Yesterday as the sun was setting I noticed that the moon was already visible in the sky so I took a quick shot using my new Canon EF 100-400 on the Metabones IV adapter and I was pleased to see the autofocus instantly lock on with no hunting at 400mm. This is hand held 200 ISO 1/400 sec at f/6.3 heavily cropped, just about a perfect 1/9 center of the full image. I am really liking this lens. I have yet to put it on a tripod.
