Experimented this after with the Smooth Reflection app at the beach.
Holly crab, this is the best $5 I've ever spent on photography, aside from filter adapters and a single roll of film!
Sony's Smooth Reflection Camera App is a life saver. No, I won't put my Lee system filters on sale, but this app works great when you a/ didn't feel like bringing your filters, b/ didn't expect that you may need one or c/ want to take an advantage of what you have (in camera) when a photo opportunity presents itself.
The Iao Needle in the Iao Valley is a 1,200 ft rock outcropping that you may remember from Jurassic Park. This valley is simply breathtaking with lush trees and plants everywhere. Morning rain and clouds spoiled the view of the peak but at least I didn't have to worry about harsh sunlight on the waterfall.
I understood that the DR would increase quite a bit using that app. I haven't done much with it either. What's the city line in the background in the SR images on the next page? Those images are lovely, Charles.
Thank you very much Joshua The city in the background is Surfers Paradise.
I must say the SR app is excellent and really has so much flexibility. Like any tool, just have to figure how to properly use it. The RAW files feel very different. I find the sharpening is different almost very insensitive and so is the saturation which just looks richer rather than looking over cooked. The increase in DR is very welcome!
From our backyard. A7R2 + MBIV + TS-E 24 II, hand-held, with a modest amount of shift, too keep things level and straight. The viewfinder level tool is handy!
Photo taken the evening of March 26, 2016 about 12 minutes before sunset at the top of the Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, PA. Image taken with my tripod mounted A7rM V3 and my Leica R 50mm f2 Summicron lens, ISO 100, lens set to about f11 for 1/6 second. Exposure corrected by + 0.36 Stops and processed in LR6.
