Beautiful light yesterday so I went for a bicycle ride in my favorite area. There's a hint of green on some trees now. So nice to see.

Another afternoon at Mono Lake.
Two images. One at f/8 and another at f/18 for the foreground rocks (DOF). I had to go to f/18 because the lens was set to about 40mm. (FE 24-70/2.8GM)
The sun light was very diffused this afternoon making the lighting on the Tufas very special.
BTW: You may see EV+2.0 on the EXIF info. That is correct. I pretty much overexposed 2 stops in order to get very clean shadows in post. (ETTR with zebras)
Photo taken October 17, 2015 in Magic Hour about 16 minutes before sunset, Big Meadows, Shenandoah NP, Virginia. Image taken with my tripod mounted A7r and my Leica M 90mm f2.5 Summarit lens, ISO 200, lens set to f11 for 1/60 second. Exposure corrected by +0.60 Stops and processed in LR6.
Wow! Love his thread! So many awesome, inspiring images!

I don't get out much....

Today, I tried out the FDn 28-85/4 and 85-300/4.5.
The 28-85 was very impressive wide open, and got much better at f/8. Easy to focus with the magnified VF. IQ seems better than what I've seen from FE 24-240. I recall in 1989 this was considered a pro lens, even though it wasn't "L".
Hand held, the 85-300 is an exhausting beast -- definitely not going to be a walk-about lens! Nice at f/8 also. Very tough to manual focus with magnified VF.
All shots at f/8, LR CC, CA correction, no profile used.
Well, I've lusted for what seems like forever, for the Zeiss Contax Vario-Sonnar 35-70/3.4. But I've always been a prime guy. Well, I recently found one for a good price and in good condition. I'm now amazed at what the lens delivers first hand. Wonderfully sharp like a prime with great color to boot.
Here's a few from my first real outing with the lens around town.
Ronny...looking forward to your images with the Minolta 35-70/3.5! It's really a hidden gem of a lens!
Bob...looks great! It is a couple of primes in one lens, no doubt!! Nice grabs!!

Not a super great grab, but I liked the way the sun hit the dead tree, and the 3D it [email protected]
