Bobby...awesome grabs from Venice! You and Joshua and Manuel had fun!!
Helena...I think you should shoot the 15 more! Great comp! And, I know you're having a 50 dilemna, and was going to suggest trying the Loxia 50. I recently re-acquired(don't ask!!!) and it has great contrast and shoots very, very well into the sun!! And has 10 point stars as well...
Mnd1 and Pinhole...nice grabs as well!

Thank you! The CV 15 is a great lens. It's just that I don't like changing lenses when I'm out. Also, I'm still trying to decide which 50mm lens to sell or keep. Funny that you mention the Loxia 50 (congratulations btw.) because these last days I have thought about maybe replacing both CV 50/1.5 and C/Y 50/1.7 with it. If so I'll keep the Rokkor 58/1.2 since it such a nice lens and quite different than the others.

I stopped on my way home. The days are getting longer and I have a chance at some low sun/sunset scenes. This area caught my eye and while I passed the location, I decided to turn around and play.
All with the Loxia 21/2.8 on the A7rII (Very little sensor reflection here)

Joshua and Manuel great images from your trip and I'm sure many more to come in the next few days after your return. You will need to let the rest of us know when your next travel workshop takes place.
Hi Butch,
It wasn't a travel workshop just two shooting buddies and myself went on a private trip. This was my 4th trip to Venice during the carnival. Manuel lives in Parma about 2 hours away from Venice. So, I let him know about the event and he joined us.

Yes, we did but it was hard work, Gregg. And the weather didn't corporate with us this time around. It rained a lot and not a single mask in his/her right mind would go out in the rain. We missed a few good friends in masks because of that and we couldn't do a single sunrise/sunset session. It simply didn't materialize while we were there. Oh well, there is always next year .

I knew that Joshua what I meant to say was the great images you produce makes all of us want to go with you for your expertise and vision. Always look forward to seeing the most recent locations.
That also goes for all of the other regulars here on FM. I've got a trip planned for Cuba in June and hope I come back with shots that tell the story of the place like yours Manuel's, Ronny's Iceland, Rene, Werner, Charles, Gregg, Helena and all the others.

That's an awesome bunch of images!! I really like the rendering style of that lens, the bokeh looks very smooth and the (micro-)contrast reasonanbly high.
Thanks Jannik, I think this is a great lens... maybe not at Zeiss level but I like it very much and also to my eyes bokeh is creamy and pleasant.
Here you can find some of my pictures taken with this lens: http://particolarivisioni.com/canon-new-fd-100mm-f2/

Thanks Gregg! Like Joshua, this was my 4th Venice Mask Carnival and it was a lot of fun in spite of the rain. We keep returning to the Carnival because it’s so enjoyable and addictive. It’s about the total experience … the charming city/setting of Venice; the incredible Italian food (we know where to go, of course); the boutique hotel and wonderful staff there; and the dinners we usually have with the masked participants aka costumées - we have come to know a few of them and they have become our friends. The connection that we have with the costumées is an essential part of a successful photo shoot at the Carnival - as you don’t want to be shooting and fighting with 20-30 other photographers all at the same time - as chances are that you will not be able to move them to a better location with better lighting, etc, and to be able to take as much time as you need to get the shot in a relaxed setting away from everyone else.
Joshua gets more “lucky" than most of us, but you know the saying … luck comes to those who are well prepared, so the more prepared you are the luckier you will be! And good post-processing and editing skills are even more important than good capture skills (unlike the good old days of slide film) and this is where Joshua has a distinct advantage over most of us! That’s just my honest and humble opinion.
