Two days ago the temperature dropped below 30 deg Celsius, for the first time after 5 weeks.Looking at the sky and light I realized that autumn has just arrived.
And here's another images from a few weeks back during Edmonton's Animethon convention. Image taken with the Sony A7s + Samyang 135mm F/2.0 Nikon mount
Emrys thanks for the comments about the Minolta PG. I agree it's a real sleeper of a lens.
Werner, beautiful countryside and great BW treatment.
Phillip I especially like the deer and the light in that photograph.
Michiel, lovely color. I hate to think what it must have been like in 1953.
Joshua, great perspectives and fascinating place. The 16-35 works very well there.
Mike, wonderful perspectives of Seattle. It's a great city.
Here are a couple of Leon Sinks Geological Area and National Park near Tallahassee, FL. It's forest, trails, and a number of sink holes, some of which are filled with water and connect to an underground cave system. Before they made it a park, scuba divers used to dive there, a dangerous business as the underground aquifer is quite extensive, with many narrow passages.
Good to see you here. How are things going with preparing and/or moving to Portland?
Rich
thanks Rich,
so far the move has gone pretty well – our furniture is finally here but we still have lots of boxes to unpack. kids seem to love the new neighborhood, we'll find out how my daughter likes her new school next week. figured i'd take a break to catch up on some photos:
I finally got time to take a one hour photo walk with the A7RII. As I've ordered the 25 & 85 Batis lenses, I wanted to see what I think about the focal lengths. I brought along a Zeiss ZE 85/1.4 Planar, a FE 55/1.8 and 28 summicron ASPH (as a stand in for a 25 mm)
Some obeservations:
The 85 planar is very heavy and unbalanced on the A7RII, suffers from its usual spherical aberrations wide open, but has a truly lovely rendering. Stopped down a bit it's as sharp as the sensor can handle.
The FE 55 is probably one of the best quality/€€€ lens that I've used. Very impressive, high contrast and center sharpness wide open. My only objection is that it is a bit too neutral for my taste - I like the lenses to have more of a personality even at the expense of raw optical performance.
The Cron 28 ASPH works adequately on the ARII. I did actually some follow up tests and the bottom line is that compared to it on the M9, the extreme edges are a bit softer when used wide open. On the other hand, edge resolution on the M9 is far from perfect as well. Due to field curvature, it's not a lens that you want to use at max aperture for landscape photography (at least not at infinity). Stop it down to f/5.6 and it's excellent across the frame. The 42 MP sensor captures quite a bit more information than the 18 MP on the M9.
