CV 35/2.5 skopar on A7r uncorrected. This lens would have to go into the "not optimal" category.
That's too bad. It is a nice little lens. On a XE-1 it performs fine stopped down to F11. And the center is sharp at 2.5. Good bokeh wide open. Very dissapointing.

I probably should have shot a few at f/11, I will at some point. I agree, this is a fantastic lens on film, and with a thinner more specialized "topping" over the sensor, there seems no reason it cannot do so edge to edge on a digital FF camera.
Sony has left the door open in this regard, and I hope somebody is smart enough to step through and deliver an affordable RF friendly FF body. The sony sensor itself could be the basis, and some already are planning to modify their A7s.
Here you can see how misleading closer shots can be: DSC02654 by unoh7, on Flickr
again the CV 35/2.5 @f/4
edges don't look bad at all,
Again, as noted above, the CV 35/1.4 has quite good edges at f/8, and is nearly as small.
I posted a bunch of Noctilux f/0.95 images on the main A7 thread. Just realized there's this separate thread for A7 rangefinder images. Here are the links to my Noct images:
Canon 50 1.8 LTM from the Leica copy Canon bodies. Manufactured some time in the 1950's.
I'm pretty happy with these, straight out of camera converted from Raw at 1.8
I did some tests of a few rangefinder lenses on my A7 for personal assessment, but maybe these will be helpful for others pondering which lenses they wanted to try out. Some caveats. These were all focused manually (obviously) with magnified live view in the center. Had I focused at the edge for some lenses, they could be improved to a degree, indicating to me there is field curvature that is partially the culprit. However, best edge focus was acheived only with significan front focusing of the central part of the frame. These are unedited out of camera JPEGS with no exposure compensation, shot with aperture priority, standard picture setting. Unfortunately DRO-Auto was the default and I forgot to switch out of auto-ISO, so I'm not sure how the vignetting played out at the edges, and there may be more noise than there should be for the stopped down photos. Oh, and it was a dull, dull day, just like every day here since I got the camera Sorry, not a lens tester by trade!!!
Without further ado, the Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5. I did photos at 4.5, 5.6, 8, 11 in that order. I'll show the whole pic downsized for web, followed by 100% crops from near center and from an edge with meaningful detail.
Zeiss 25mm f/2.8. I did photos at 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11 in that order. I'll show the whole pic, followed by 100% crops from near center and from an edge with meaningful detail.
