That last shot is impressive. The CA does bother me though (on the snow and the nearest tree) because it gives a kind of double vision effect. What aperture was that shot at, btw?

pretty sure it was f/8. I played around a little with the first two-very little but I did not touch the last. Shot Raw, Auto WB, then into LR, then out out as jpeg.

Probably the best RF 28 for the A7r: Elmarit v3
Not that I completely disagree with the statement, and in light of the fact that the modern hi pixel density sensors like the Sony pushes IQ into a complicated paradigm shift of high incident light rays, the R28 V3 that is illustrated wasn't that great compared to the V4 and ASPH versions. I would hazard a guess that the VC 28/1.9 may give it a run for its money at a lesser price point.
Just one more data point to consider, and clear sharp photos at altitude just the same!
Jim, you could be right. I think the CV 1.9 would be a serious contender for me if I had no 28s, for sure. we'll have to see it at f/8, but it's the right size

hmmm, unless those are at apertures wider than f/5.6 i think the cron actually does better.
someday I'll shoot them side by side. Cron has more colorshift, I think. A7r loves f/8 for landscapes, edges seem good for me, and centers retain the great detail.
Glad you said that though, now I will take the cron up on the mountain.
Now I see why for many years 28 was the widest lens On FF it's WIDE.
Wow, plenty of nice images here! I just ordered the adapter for my Canon 50mm f/0.95, as soon as it arrives I'll pick up the A7.
I have a couple of other lenses I want to try out, do any of you guys have any experience with the Leica 28mm R, not sure about the version but I think it's from the 80's?
I also have another lens for my Canon 7 rangefinder, a 135mm 3.5 I think, never even tried that lens once, the 50 is like glued to the 7
