Just got this one in, a quick "review", actually, a quick play outside...
First note, unboxing from official Nikon box, wow, super light weight plastic wonder!
First to me F mount lenses, are they all plastic? I sincerely hope not.
The AF via FTZII on Z8, hunts, a lot on MFD.
This has got to be the slowest AF lens that I can remember, in a looong time.
Shrug, as with all other lenses, one must put in learning time to properly use them.
Especially so with this one.

Oh wow, after reviewing the files on the big screen, really digging the character of this lens, the reason for it's purchase.
Yep! There has to be a reason this thread is 366 pages long despite lots of complaints about this lens! Both praise and criticism are valid here. Its not a lens that does the work for you but rather the opposite....but when you do what it wants, it delivers character in spades.
I really like those photos.
Looking at the first one, so this kind of 3D pop effect we see here, is this particularly achieved by this lens or would any ~50mm 1.4 lens do that? Is this a good example of what 58G can do and other lens cannot?
The way its cutting person out from the background, making background not too blurry and faded, but showing the edges around the person so sharp that she pops out of it. You know what I mean?
A few from a drive up to the neighboring town of Index...an unusually warm 80 degrees in October. As always the on the Df. This lens is now dedicated only to my copy of this now 10 year old camera!
i purchased a Nikon Z8 just to shoot the 58/1.4, 105/1.4, 28/1.4e and the 35/1.4g
Such legendary lenses. The Z mount glass may be technically superior but doesnt have the soul of these lenses.
