I'm very interested in this lens. Anyone here adapting a 58mm f/1.4 G on a full frame Z using the FTZ?
I'd be interested to hear feedback, particularly in relation to AF performance when adapted to mirrorless or any other downsides with this combination other than the additional heft and girth.
I have used the lens on my Z7 with FTZ without any noticeable issue of AF, size and weight. In terms of AF, it's pretty accurate in my user cases, most of them are static portrait and landscape. The eye tracking works fine on Z7. But I am not using it for sports so I can't comment on the AF/tracking performance related to those. The focus accurate on Z7 is excellent, or maybe ever better than that on my D850, at least for my copy. The lens is pretty light, considering it's a f/1.4 lens. I don't feel it's heavy on Z7 with the FTZ adaptor.
It’s fantastic on the z6ii and z7. Like above, my use is static or slow moving subjects. While it’s still not razor sharp at 1.4 like the 50 1.2S, it’s rendering is so pleasing still. I have both lenses and if I had to sell one, it would not be the 58mm. It works great on the z cameras.

Many thanks to sputnik, Ocean2059 and urbanwild, your feedback is much appreciated. This is a lens that has been on my radar and top of my wishlist but I haven't owned a F mount camera for many years. My fear was when adapted for my Z bodies the AF would be further compromised but I'm delighted to hear that the performance actually improves significantly. Thanks again.
My latest 'character' acquisition, the Nikon AF-S 58mm f1.4 G lens, bought earlier this week. Both images shot yesterday on a Nikon Z7 using the FTZ adapter, the car in comparatively soft light the scene in harsh, contrasty light. I love that the bokeh balls are circular to the edges of the FX frame (no cat's eyes here) and have no discernable onion rings even when viewed at 100%. Also no distracting swirly bokeh. This lens is definitely a keeper!
Gorgeous! Btw, your photos are a large reason why I dropped a bunch of money on this lens a while back. To this day despite newer tech, it’s still likely my favourite lens. Cheers!

A few from a farewell session last week on the Df...
@JadedWriter, what is your initial impression of the 58 G lens? I have seen you post amazing stuff with the 50 1.2 Z and 105 1.4 E so was curious about your thoughts.
These shots look great to me, I have the 58G and I find the drawing really unique unlike other 50ish lenses.
At first I wasn't feeling it since everything looked out of focus when I was looking on the back of the D5 screen, but once I got the stuff onto the computer screen and saw that the stuff was in focus and then started editing the stuff a bit I was sold. I need to use it more, but it's a good lens. I like how it takes colors in, bokeh's nice and smooth and not harsh. I like how it renders, just need to make more photos with it. Might slap it on the D850 at some point...maybe even the Z9. Basically the two images that did it for me were the guy with the bag over his shoulder and the daughter in her dads arms. The rendering is just chefs kiss on those two shots. sanjayg wrote:

I want a $2000 200F2. I'm basically glad I never got rid of the 105 and actually seem to like this 58. lukemeup wrote:
58/105 I'd like to re-buy one day when the F-mount prices collapse even further.
