Ya, I had to keep my 70-200mm even though I got the 200mm F2. It really is an amazing and versatile lens for event and sports photography.
Here are a few photos of some morel mushroom picking adventures on my days off.
The problem with me is, I cannot justify owning a 70-200 when I have a 200/2. Especially when I only shoot 7-10 weddings a year as a side job (last year was crazy though, 16 weddings)
With that being said, I did consider third party counterparts but I'm just not a huge fan of third party glass. I'll buy a third party lens if it's something I very rarely use (like 12mm fish & 90mm macro)

I was in the same boat because I barely ever needed a 70-200 so I ordered the Tamron 70-200 2.8 VC. I actually quite enjoy the lens!

Here we go again... I now don't believe you took this shot with a 58G!
I wish I could do weddings like you guys do. For the life of me I would not shoot a wedding.
Actually I do use the 58 for a lot of my commercial work, I just don't post any of it.
I have found that between the 58 and the 200 f2, you can get a look that
is very close to medium format... But you guys already know that, as I see it in
the awesome shots on this thread...
oh, and I really did use the 58 on this shot...I really like it in the studio...

hahhaa
You wish you could do weddings but you don't? elaborate, please
wrong choice of words, I admire how you guys do weddings, but honestly
I don't even like going to weddings.
The idea of shooting a wedding has never created a desire to do it and honestly
as corny as it sounds, If it is not in my heart, I wont do it.

Probably the best $19.95 you'll ever spend.
Thinking that these looked like a cool idea I looked them up in the UK. On Amazon UK they are all priced around £100! not surprisingly there are no reviews. Someone has made a mistake I think? I doubt even photographers are going to pay £100 for what is basically I soft toy with a hole in it.

Same here in Germany - only offer on amazon.de is for 73€+shipping, from a vendor in California... For that price I could order directly from Amazon US...

I think those must be great for kids photos.
From my experience of using the small monkey on the 35G- it gets kids attention and they actually look at the camera. MOST of the time, they don't laugh though.
However, whats really great it's that the adults laugh and give their REAL smile when I'm taking group shots. And I love that!!
Did some shots with my niece last night after dark using my interfit S1's and the 58. This lens struggles to focus in the extreme dark but the modeling lights were just enough to keep it in check.

We welcomed this little guy into the world a few days ago. Overall he wasn't too happy but I managed to grab a few where he wasn't mad at the world.
Those of you shooting weddings......which other primes do you pair this with? I usually shoot with a 35Art and 85 1.8g but 58 is fairly close to both (I also have a 70-200 if needed).
