Reckon the AF fine tune is dialled in now, although the light outside is very dull and overcast. Messing around with it in the garden with a little help from a strobe and a sheet of Rosco E+ #101 for some instant sunset:

It's really annoying, but Kai Wong and "bokehlicious" have been in my head for the last half hour.....
I'm off to Portugal for a holiday at the end of the week. Really looking forward to playing with the 58 over there.
Damnit - that b/w shot just made me pull the trigger on a used copy!
I've been researching this lens like mad person - but almost everything shows and/or deals with lens sharpness (or lack thereof) wide open.
I tend to stop my fast lenses down slightly so that the DOF i slightly deeper than razor thin. This of course is personal preference and I realise that I'm in the absolute minority here. I love lenses that have character and nice bookeh. But it seems, these days that better bookeh is the same as thinner DOF to everyone. I feel differently. Should be interesting enough.

Children's Day was this month, so the koinobori were flying over our local Uwajimaya. Oregon being what it is, rain is a constant threat (or treat, if you're an Oregonian like me).
