The focus on the dog shots is off.... clearly front focus.
Thanks for looking and commenting....
Yeah - the images seem soft on these pages versus the originals...maybe my LR export profile is a little to loose.
As for focusing...yes, I understand f1.4 on this lens is pretty shallow to get the snout and head in focus....but wanted to see first-hand how this lens would react. I did take some shots at f2.0, 2.8, 4, and 5.6 to get an idea where the DOF area comprised of. I tried really hard to have my single-focus point on the eye or close as possible to it versus the nose or any area on the snout. I only had 9 points active...so based on positioning....I got either the eye or as close as possible to it.
Will continue to work and assess the lens and AF adjust as needed.
The new toy found it's way in the camera bag while going out covering our local high school football playoffs. I knew I would get little to none regarding tight action...but figured it would be fun toting around for sideline-type of shots.
I usually shoot f2.8 lenses....so having two extra stops was nice....so I kept mainly on my D700 but it really shines on the D3s sensor...especially at the higher ISOs.
A few of my favorites from this lens last night...
