Still processing images from the Pantanal, and thought I would sneak in a few birds before Eric gets back. Hyacinth Macaws (which also happen to grace the cover of the excellent field guide by Gwynne, Ridgely, Tudor, and Argel), a trio of Buff-necked Ibis (image trio, bird duo), and a Black-capped Donacobius. I saw the Macaws and Ibis while wandering around outside the Fazenda Santa Teresa (which is just off the Transpantaneira); the Donacobius were seen from a boat on the Cuiaba River while everyone else was looking for jaguars.
Comments/cricitisms/advice all appreciated.
Greg
#1 They fly slowly so the IF captures are not so tough
#2 The most striking Ibis species I have seen; often in pairs and often habituated
#3 Artistic pose one
#4 Artistic pose two
#5 His (or her) partner was down in the grass somewhere
It is sweetness when they all come together like this Greg! This is an outstanding post from presentation, to comp. to exposure to unique species
#1 That shot ROCKS! Stunning color, super cool pose and grey comp!
#2 Delightful capture, outstanding detail, great eye contact, nice separation and caught in the good light
#3 Yup and I like it!!
#4 Nice arching grace from your BG subject, nailed it buddy
#5 Holy smokes Greg...........fascinating bird, vibrant color and powerful presentation!
Love the sharpness of each of these shots. #2 is the best of the ibis; the last is an excellent portrait, but #1 is the winner for the perfect focus. The fast SS and a bit of panning all came together to make this one for the wall IMO. The eyes.....wow. Like candy easter bunny eyes.!! Don
Great work Greg. Love the macaws especially. The Pantanal wasn't even on my radar a few months ago but after seeing yours and Eric's postings I've already started looking into it for a 2015 trip. Thanks for sharing and please share some more.
Beautiful birds and superb images. Macaw IF is excellent. Slow or not, you still have to track and have the settings correct. That ibis species is indeed pretty, and the first image has great light. You absolutely nailed that one. The Donacobius is well exposed and processed. Wonderful exotic collection Greg.
I'm back and these rock big time Greg. The macaws are to die for...sort of like a zebra
These are stunning shots to which I have nothing even remotely comparable.
Simply awesome!
Eric
