There are reasons I don't take this lens out very often - sometimes, the colors can be a bit funky (greens too saturated? not sure), the LoCA can be a pain, and it's bigger than I like for my main 28/50/90 kit. I forget how great it can be wide open - great contrast and detail when you get the focus right.
Is FD 85 L so old that it uses lead glass? I was wondering why I like the lens on all scenarios much more than EF 85L mkII. Or is it just that EF version was designed and optimized for smooth boke, which did lead compromises on other aspects? Considering lens size, decades of development between FD and EF, and price of EF version really should be better on all aspects.
With EF version I avoided shooting landscapes, because the lens just did suck on large distances and small apertures. I find FD version to be very good ALSO on landscapes.
