my 35mm f2 just got here from japan. it's much lighter than me 35 f2 distagon, and should do great once my new F1 gets here. it seems to focus to a hair less than infinity on my adapter. i'll have to wait for the F1 to get there to confirm if it is a lens or adapter problem.
This is the FD 200mm f4 on the Sony A6000. There are several versions of this lens. The first one was released around 1971 followed by an S.C. version and then an S.S.C. Later there was a new FD (also an S. S. C.) version which was much lighter. I have the first one and the S.S.C. After doing several tests between the 2 lenses, I was surprised to find the first version sharper than the S.S.C. I really like this lens on the A6000.
Lovely shot BTW. I've been curious about this very combination (A7/500 FD 4.5L) and its about what I expected based on my results from the FDn 300 Ls.
I'm using it for now kludged to the R8/DMR (no infinity focus). I think this lens would be great with the a7II's sensor stabilization. Pretty sure I'm losing some sharpness due to slow shutter speeds, but it still looks good at 100%.
I've done some torture-testing: bird against overcast sky (no flare or color fringes), contrasty edges in OOF backgrounds (no color fringes), decent bokeh. The focussing ring is a little rougher and sloppier than I'm accustomed to (Leica 280mm f/4 APO) but its pitch is just right for both quick large adjustment and for fine focus. I'm calling it "so far, so good" and the pricing for a good quality 500mm lens is hard to beat and to top it off this lens weighs less than every other 500 I looked at.
