Well, crop to APS-c and you have the nex-7 of your dreams. I think you could get an M8 crop pretty easily.

My guess, given the performance on the NEXs and M9, that the Leica Elmarit-M 28/2.8 vIII or IV, will wind up being the best performers of RF 28s on the new Alphas.

I have a v3 1982, perfect in the closet, I've been meaning to sell. Guess I better keep for a time.

You think it will be better than the summicron?

I guess RF wide-angles are out of question then..

But Im quite "sold", if this camera will have reasonable price here. Or I will just make a trip to Germany.

Lets hope so.

I should mention that I also tested a 50mm Summilux ASPH and the results were lousy.
I won't show any pictures because it is quite possible that the lens was defective, and I don't want to start a witch hunt, but even at f/4 the corners were mushy.
Please tell me if you see any other samples with that lens, until then I will assume that there was a problem with the lens because I have no explanation.

Thanks for sharing.

As far as the Biogon is concerned, has anyone tested it on A7? Maybe something similar to the Nex-5n vs 7 develop?

the g28 is considerably worse in terms of smearing and than a number of other rangefinder wides on the nex-7 so there's still a chance some will work well.

Ron Scheffler did a bunch of testing of various lenses on the A7 (had no access to the A7r at the time) and in the pile were tests of the 50 Lux ASPH.

Links to zipfiles containing full resolution images are in that post.

The G45 may well work OK, but the WA G series lenses not so good. In fact as I had mentioned in the A7 and A7 WA thread, Richard Schleuning, National Sales Manager for Zeiss told me this past Thursday that Zeiss knew there was a problem with their WA RF lenses with the Sony A7r.

Here's the 50 Lux shot from the guys in Canada. Note, the focal point seems to be behind the sign, and there are sharp leaves and branches in most parts of the frame. Not the best test shot...

the contax g 28 is the best of the g biogons, but the contax g biogons are all slightly worse in terms of exit pupil angles than the corresponding zm versions and many leica wides have much more retrofocal designs.

In my own experience, the Contax G28 work well with my NEX 5N, but not that well on NEX 7.

That is my guess, but my experience with the Summicron is limited, so take it for what you will.

I didn't see it in Phillips lens list, but I thought that I had read that in one of the threads. Hopefully that is a good omen for our Leica C 40mm f2 Summicron/Minolta 40mm f2 Rokkor-M lenses.

How do these files have exif lens data? Were you able to enter the lens data in a menu like the last few generations of Nikons? I wasn't able to find this function in the 5D3, A99, NEX-7, or Epic so I was starting to think Nikon was the only one who did it.

Or did you have some smart adapter like this: http://store.redrockmicro.com/Catalog/LiveLens-for-MFT-Mount-Cameras/livelensmft

I'm very interested in Lux 50 ASPH on A7/A7r -- would love to see your 'lousy' shot -- or if you try shooting another test with it again.

Yeah, from this sort of scene, it really doesn't give up any resolution to the 55FE. I'm sure bokeh will be nicer on the 55 though.

Do I see some vignetting on the G45 though, and maybe some color cast? There's none of that on the NEX-5N.

Phillip only had the A7r for a short time; I don't believe he can get access to an A7r again to run another test.

Interesting - the G28 is closer to the "ideal" Biogon design than any of the other G or ZM lenses, IIRC.
