This past Thanksgiving* long weekend I set aside one day for photography. It was a great day and ended off on a high note with some aurora. With almost full moon light from the south west it was the perfect conditions for how I like to shoot aurora.

Thank you very much Mark. You could be right but it is a matter of taste. I am running a 30in IPS calibrated display this photo is a great example of how I choose to capture and process brightly moonlit aurora scenes. In reality the aurora and landscape where much darker. Longer exposures (30sec) helped brighten things up to my liking.

The brightness is just right for effect. These scenes at their natural Ev are often too dark.
