That massive, quite tall, grip/battery, reminds of the drive for Canon's F1, the finger part of the motor drive; it's curves, remind of the later releassed T-90. The MA motor drive on one of my A-1s reminds me how far some ergonomics have come.
A 'retro' 35mm look, in a smaller 'kinda' package....
The images below were pulled from a Google image search, my health is such that I can shoot just yet, thus the stock images...there's a Nikon F2 with high speed drive below as well, it's from Wikipedia, I tried to find a larger image for the F2, apologies, it was a massive beast...

Looks sort of like my old Pentax LX, too. The first photo is from Photography in Malaysia (MIR), to show it fully configured, which I could do, but didn't photograph. The second photo is mine.

Seeing that LX made me very nostalgic for mine! I really wish Pentax had been able to stay in the full frame league in the digital era, if they had I would definitely still be using all my SMC glass. Sigh.
Feel same way about Olympus actually, but I won't ever commit to a manufacturer who doesn't support full frame.

Me too, although a lot of the best SMC Pentax lenses really can't compete with newer designs. I used many of them on my Canon bodies for a while, but they've almost all been replaced by Canon L zooms and Canon/Zeiss/Mamiya primes.

Probably because Canon hasn't done anything exciting since the 5D2 and 7D. All newer bodies are just a rebadge with more bells/whistles. Same old sensor with a different name tag.
Well I'd disagree entirely with that from my perspective. For my work, the 5d3 was an incredibly exciting camera and it has made a genuine difference to my business. The Sony's are exciting in general, but sadly I have no use for it. Even though I had no real use for it, I'd still quite like one though
However, there's no doubt an enormous appetite out there for high res and higher quality shadows..

A picture, it's worth a thousand words, is it really anymore...to the masses
Change a thousand "words" to a thousand "likes" and the masses are on board with you.
Totally agree with your assessment though. There was an article months ago on the ever increasing quality of iPhone camera's through the years. That trend will only continue and with ever decreasing volumes on the low to mid end for camera manufacturers it's going to be more difficult to fund higher level advancements. Prices on that type of equipment are only going to get higher to recoup development costs. You could say we are already experiencing that as Canon rolls out lens updates.
Think of the potential prices of a 14-24 and a 100-400. Both in all likelihood will be over $3000.
I like the Metabones FE to EF 14mm f2.8 Samyang shots. This adapter is working fine as advertised
Agreed. The 14mm Samyang shots are very encouraging. But since Samyang plans to add Sony E-mount to the inventory, and these lens are so cheap, it may be a better just to wait and buy a new 14mm lens.

EF lens especially L on a smaller sized A7 would be horrendous when it comes to ergonomics and balancing.
This will lead to fatigue. That's never good for image taking.
Dynamic range is nothing if your images are crap.
That's a strange logic. Small camera + EF lenses = fatigue = crappy images
I can alleviate a few concerns. First, I've used a much smaller camera (NEX 5n) with EF lenses. Somehow, I managed not to have my images come out looking like crap
Second, I get fatigued more quickly when using a heavier camera than a lighter camera.
Third, when I get fatigued, it doesn't affect the quality of my images. Being fatigued is a physical thing. Being a skillful photographer is a mental thing. If your images start to look like crap because you get fatigued, maybe you're getting mentally fatigued.
Fourth, if you feel balance and larger size is important to your comfort, just add a vertical grip.

+1, I have no Samyang lenses at this point but all my friends love them. I will try some

This was the first store over their to get stock the other day. Blatant copy of iPhone release propaganda but good to see they might have a winner on their hands.
