I've read the fine print on the Imaging Resource site. I don't think I can post the processed files :-(.

I will say the ISO 4000 shot really doesn't look bad with sharpening and NR turned off.

Hmm, ok, that's too bad we can't see them, but it's good the ARW's show improvement compared to the jpg's

Yes, definite improvement. The worst part of the images is in the gray label towards the right of the image. Chroma noise seems more apparent there. It even was worse than the black Jack Daniels label.

But nothing like the JPEG out of the camera in terms of munging.

Sorry about not being able to post. I should have realized that sooner.

I don't shoot high ISO very often though, so I'm probably not the best judge. I will say that nothing I've seen so far in the RAW files has scared me away from the a7R. I have one on preorder, so I have skin in the game.

To see the RAW files for yourself, either download the demo version of Iridient Developer: (Mac only)
http://www.iridientdigital.com/products/rawdeveloper_download.html

Or download Sony's Image Data Converter: (PC and Mac)
http://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/disoft/int/idc/index.html

PS: If using the IDC RAW converter, turn OFF the default "Auto" settings like Noise reduction, Shading Compensation and D-Range Optimizer, then bring the TIFF file to Lightroom.

R'U sure, his eyes lashes (that's where the focus point) look sharp to me... show me f1.2 shot that sharper than this one...when the guitarist moving with music in this light condition. Have you shot f1.2 lenses before...give SteveHuff some credit here. Here is another angle shot of the same player

No offense, Fred, but looking at those pictures, I am underwhelmed by both the camera and lens and that's an overstatement .

Yeah, they are mostly awful, or is that artsy fartsy nowadays?

I just want to see a fine lens like a tele prime or macro at f8 on a solid tripod at ISO 100. They should also place some objects at the corners so we can see how the microlenses work with EF-adapted lenses.

+1, it does not look right with those EF converter & Zeiss 55f1.4 shots...feel like extension tube effects...or maybe the lens at wide open

What kind of adapter that SteveHuff has used for his Voigtlander lenses. Any one know? It does make the differences...so we can't say much yet

That's awesome - I wonder if Sony will offer same in US. I was planning on buying the Metabones smart adapter but maybe I should wait a tad.

I think he meant IF they don't work.

But everything I've seen and read so far indicates that EF lenses works flawlessly.

However, I want to see more tests and user reports before I light the fireworks.

As mentioned previous posts. Samples of A7r and Zeiss 55f1.4 does not look that hot. Still in question of the lens or EF converter. Thank you, gentlemen

It's user error. The only thing the adaptor can do is not mount the lens perfectly straight. If you are shooting shallow dynamic range and manually focussing correctly than the adaptor cannot possible harm the image quality (unless there is a light leak - very unlikely).

The more plausible explanation is that you can't just hand an unseen camera body and brand new ultrafast manual lens to a bunch of journalists and expect them to produce flawless images right away.

I've seen enough samples of the Otus 55 f/1.4 to believe the lens is not at fault here!
