Has anybody had issues trying to charge their battery? I received a brand new a7r today and the first thing i did was try to charge the battery. The indicator light never turned on and a very faint winding sound was coming from the usb/wall charger area. Camera was never able to turn on either. Im wondering if anyone thinks it could be a faulty battery or usb/charger or the camera itself? I have an extra battery and wall charger on order and should arrive Friday. I want to rule out the battery and charger before I send the camera back for a replacement. Appreciate any input/opinions on this.

This doesn't sound right. Normally the battery should charge as well in the camera, it just takes longer compared to the process with the charger. A yellow light should turn on during the charging process in the camera. I didn't hear any sound during the process. Maybe try a different outlet first to see if the issue is repeatable.

My first out-going with A7R + TSE24II
I don't know my impression yet, the weather is very hot and i was sweating, dusty, i don't have a plate for this to put on tripod, and i forgot that standard Manfrotto cameras plate so i was carrying the Manfrotto tripod pointless, all these are handheld.

Hi Marc,
I am using the same combo, Canon 24 tse + Metabones 3 on a Sony 7a (not the R). I notice that when i am taking pictures at low light there is a kind of a ray of light that apears on the image. It gets worst as the exposure is longer.
Do you know what it is ?
Thank you very much !
Daniel

This versus stuff is built by scraping stuff off the net, not actually entered and reviewed by a human, so it's unreliable. And a7/r does not have sensor stabilization.

Does anyone on here have fashion or portraits done with the sony a7r and a 85mm 1.2 ii? Been looking through as many pages as I can. Wifi at Starbucks forbids me from looking through pictures without waiting a minute per.
Digital zoom and focus peaking make the precision AF job so easy, contrast AF seems very reliable. So far I like it very much...great tool to handle shallows dof. No PP on above test images. I have not checked the RAW & ISO option yet.

Living in a "free" country means the government can't prevent you from saying things. That doesn't mean that what you are saying is valid... indeed, much of what you say is outright foolish. If you've never processed and printed a D800 file to 24x36 or higher (landscape or otherwise), you should try it before chastening others for "studying" their "monitor."
And your knowledge doesn't extend very far if you don't think high ISO is a usual "style" for a landscape shooter. ISO 1600-12,800 is my base ISO range for shooting nightscapes (a very usual subject for me and many others), and for some recent work I did with Northern Lights in Canada.

I bought a pair of these Vivitar batteries from Amazon. Some people reported poor performances with the Wasabi brand and some fried their cameras. I never had a problem with the Vivitars. Appears they also have higher ratings on Amazon too. Hope that helps.

I have two Sony batteries and two Wasabi brand batteries for my A7R. The Sony batteries hold the charge longer especially at colder outside temperatures. Nevertheless, the Wasabi ones are a good deal and a good option just to have some spare batteries with you on a longer trip.
I avoid charging the Wasabi batteries with the Sony charger and vice-versa avoiding to charge the Sony batteries with the Wasabi charger. It looks like Sony batteries are charged a bit slower but better to keep the charge longer than the Wasabi batteries.
