This seems like the best DSLR landscape option out there right now, if Sony changes to a lossless RAW file, and Novoflex releases a better adapter. Anybody heard if Sony plans to update firmware?
If they do, they will surely give us lossless RAW. This is the one thing "everyone" have been complaining about.
There should also be a new "delayed shutter mode", in order to fix the shutter vibrations with longer lenses.
These two fixes and the Novoflex adapter will make this star of a camera shine even brighter!

Agreed - only that I am suspecting Novoflex to ask another unreasonable price for this kind of adapter simply because it will be high in demand as currently only other competitor to the Metabones adapter.

I don't know if they're good, but there are a couple of dual chargers on Amazon.com, and a Watson dual charger on B&H's website. I got a Sony BC-QM1 charger since the BC-TRW came out way after the camera shipped. Eventually I got the BC-TRW as well. I figured I'd rather have two chargers than 1 charger that charges 2 batteries. At least that way, if one of the chargers died, I wouldn't be stuck.

Do you guys really get full shift with the Metabones adapter flocked? I can only get 10mm shift at f/11, after that I see a dark band (both directions).
I'm thinking about sanding the inside plastic ever so slightly, just enough to make it rougher and increase actual surface, and then paint it with flat black to trap the light. I know there's no going back if I do this, but I'm not planning on selling the adapter anyway. I have ordered flat black paint from micro tools and will report the outcome here.

Not that impressive and score was generous. AF woes should have seen it marked down further.
It is a critical review with detailed information which is a good thing. I am more curious about the upcoming A7R review. The A7 still gives an amazing IQ performance. Currently the A7(R) series cameras provide the only option to use Canon glass with a high MP FF sensor (A7R) or improved FF sensor (A7). This is the main reason why people cope with other minor disadvantages of these cameras and lens adapter modifications.

I agree with retrofocus. I have not yet taken the A7R plunge yet, but if I do, I do so knowing that I've been hearing for years that Sony innovates great technology, but in many ways is still behind the likes of Canon and Nikon for the overall shooting experience. If I get an A7R, I will do so for for the advantages, knowing I will find ways to work around the disadvantages. But I won't pretend the disadvantages aren't there. The kicking and screaming going on in forums over Dpreview's assessment of the A7 is getting to absurd levels, as though people desperately need their purchase to be validated by some all knowing other. "Please, please tell me I possess the tool that will finally allow me to concentrate on shooting and not online gear review and forums, please tell me that I've spent my money well, that I have the latest and greatest thing, please, please, please! Only SILVER? I HATE YOU, YOU SUCK!" Wow. Really?
Am I missing something here? Dpreview offers their considerable knowledge for free, which I think is an incredible service to the photographic community. It amazes me that so much arguing and negativity concentrates there. I will still be looking forward to what the Dpreview folks have to say about the A7R.

I also agree with your point of view. No camera is just "perfect" in regard to every possible photo application, especially not if it is a brand new first prototype in a series. It depends where the photographer's focus is - the A7(R) is simply perfect if low weight is required for traveling and/or someone wants to use good existing lens gear e. g. from Canon with an excellent sensor without changing brands fully at this point.

I really enjoy the a7R, for landscape shooting and as a light walk around camera it really shines. I really like the EVF and the way it handles. It's not a sports or action camera, but that's not generally what I shoot.
Glad I took the plunge, it's also nice to not be shackled to Canon with all my EF mount glass. I've been a Canon shooter since the EOS 650 came out, and Sony does have a real leg up on sensors. (Yes, I know there are many who are quite happy with the latest iteration from Canon, both the 5D III and 6D and that's fine.)
Running a dual system is easier when your existing set of lenses can be used on both systems.

I'm still OK with the 1DX and 6D, yet I can also say that Sony currently rules the sensor roost. Good thing that it's not Nikon.

Agreed. I'll be more-or-less there, as soon as somebody releases an EOS to XF adapter that enables aperture, IS and AF. I figure the EF 70-200/4L IS would be a worthy addition to my XF primes, on my X Pro-1.
Of course, I'm not going to try putting my Fuji XF lenses on my EOS bodies. Unless absolutely necessary.

folks, if anyone has purchased the edmunds flock paper and have enough left over you'd like to sell please pm me. I'll also post this to the FS/FT forums.

You are in usa so I won't send it to you, but as I ever told, we use around 1/20 of the sent edmund paper.... So if several photographer need it in same region, buy it once ;-)

If Edmund doesn't has stock and you need it, I guess someone here is nearer from you. We just use so few. I could even send you twice enough for free (but shipping is high from Europe).

Yes pretty sure I can find something local. But thanks so much for the offer.

I got the Thorlabs stuff and I don't have any of the Edmunds to compare it to, but I have not yet been able to totally squash the issue with the Thorlabs paper. Its adhesive is pretty good and I haven't caught it shedding (yet).

Quick post to give you my feedback on the flat black paint I had ordered from Micro tools:
I had ordered both a flat black correction pen and a small bottle of flat black paint. The paint from the bottle proved to not be very deep flat black, but the one from the pen really is flat flat black. I have "painted" over the plastic in the adapter, and I don't seem to be getting any reflections anymore. I have kept the flocked paper on the front and back, plus sides of the adapter, and have painted flat black the upper and lower sides of it. I will try replicating the shots where I was getting reflections and see if it solves the issue completely. I might even try painting the whole thing if the upper/lower sides proved to be 100% successful.
