It wasn't Amazon who had the bodies. It was a third-party seller who nobody probably preordered from.
Nope, when I looked, it was Prime shipped directly through Amazon (in some cases though, Amazon handles everything for some third parties so ?) A few minutes later, it was only 3rd parties without Prime.

I agree,I have exact same feeling. My priority is different, so I bought it and will keep it as M back and travel body. No much regret! But build and manual leave a lot to be desired.
Michael,
I think that the build is much better than you think. A Leica M or R camera it is not, but consider the difference in price. The camera does have a strong chassis, strong enough to even support the usage of heavier R lenses and the such if you take the appropriate precautions (as should be the case for most cameras). The EVF is excellent as is the sensor and I believe the electronics to be as well. I also found when I handled it at PhotoPlus to have good ergonomics. I really look forward to the delivery of my A7r tomorrow.

Amazon wasn't the seller of the bodies. And yes, Amazon sometimes does order fulfillment for other companies (ie, they warehouse and ship bodies on behalf of other sellers).

That very well could be the case. Anytime Amazon handles the fulfillment, there is no risk at all when ordering (for anyone wondering about that).

Started ordering accessories, in order to have all ready when I actually buy the A7 camera:
Metabones EF mkIII: 433,82EUR (including VAT and delivery from Germany to Finland, in Finnish supplier this is >490EUR)
Generic small L-bracket for Metabones from amazon.co.uk including shipping: 26,49EUR
2pcs pirate battery + car/wall/USB-charger from amazon.de + shipping: 49,60EUR
2pcs 32GB 600x SD-card from amazon.co.uk: 59,87EUR
Wired remote control (Sony RM-VPR1) sony.fi, free delivery: 65EUR
Considering that #1, #2, #3 and #4 need to be repeated for each camera the Sony systems is not as cheap as it first looks like. Of course if there later will be native mount high quality lenses (same caliber stuff as Zeiss Otus, Zeiss APO 2/135, Leica APO 180, not talking FE35 and FE55 kind of lenses) then native lenses can be used and only #2 (L-bracket for camera, not for the adapter), #3 and 4# are needed.
#5 comment: WTF - there is only one extreme basic model; no timer, no delay, no interval functionality - but as you can expect from Sony stupid electronical zoom is included... And it's 2x the price of for example Phottix TR-90 what I use for Canon's. As far as I see no pirate models which would actually fit A7(r), even many claim so in eBay, but from connector one can see that they have the old Minolta connector, which can't be found from A7(r). Hopefully A7(r) becomes popular, and manufacturers like Phottix start to produce timer remote controls also for multiconnector based Sonys.
Originally I was thinking this will be ~1400EUR purchase. But in reality it's 1599,90EUR (real price of A7 here) + 634,78EUR (accessories just ordered) = 2234,68EUR. Just checked and there are multiple 5DmkII locally in sale from 1000EUR to 1200EUR, so I would have saved 1000EUR getting one more 5DmkII - this better be worth it...

Sony Alpha Rumours posted a new "SR4" rumour about Sony having a 54 megapixel full frame sensor (the NEX-7 sensor grown up one supposes) that depending on cost of production might make its way into cameras by 2015/16.

I pre-ordered both A7 and A7r the morning after the announcement. I was only in the first batch of shipments for the former. Guess those rumors of Sony underestimating demand for the A7r were not kidding. freaklikeme wrote:

I predict that when a camera with this sensor is announced we will have lots of posts on how 36 MP is the "sweet spot" for FF sensors.

The FE35 is actually quite a nice little lens. It isn't perfect, and doesn't have perfect corners, but the corners are better than for example 28/2 or 50/2 wide open, in comparison to the rest of the field. The FE55 looks like it might be even better, but time will show.
If we get some nice light here for a few hours one weekend day, I will go out to a forest and get some shots with the FE35 and other ZF lenses.

I think they were brilliant by pricing the cameras at this point. It's like buying a color printer they get you for the inks not the price of the printer. Same way with Sony making its money on lenses, adapters and cable releases. If they priced at much higher they would've been in the Nikon / Canon full frame wheelhouse.

I didn't 'think' but handled it in real world. Don't let my impression ruining you guys feeling But I am surprised you feel its build good after handle Leica R camera.
RX1 has noticeable better build as well in the same store. I hope A7R feels better. What really counts is IQ, which Sony seems exceed so far.
And I should not complain its BQ for its relative affordable price. For disposable digital stuff with MKII along in the line, this is more than adequate. I don't need a better build stuff with $3300 tag for SONY.
Just want people getting all around information/opinion than only cheers up.

Yes, FE35 is quite good, but I doubt it can beat ZE/ZF 1.4/35 or ZE/ZF 2/35 @ f/2.8 (my mostly shoot aperture, due to f/1.4 and f/2 lenses being their best compromize ~f/2.8 what comes to DOF and quality). However to finally get my ideal 3 lens & camera setup I prefer 28mm since 35mm is little too close to 55mm in FOV (and even closer to 50mm before I get my hands to Otus...) and as widest lens to carry with you it's little tight.
Based on fullsize samples online it seems that FE35 beats hands down ZE/ZF 2/28 on sharpness department. I have always tried to avoid f/2 with ZE/ZF2/28 due to the corners, and by f/2.8-3.2 they tend to be quite OK.
I'm afraid that Sony/Zeiss FE wide angle will be 24mm - Sony seems to favor that focal length. I find 24mm almost always too wide, but on other hand not wide enough for crazy shots (where 21mm Distagon is brilliant). For me even ZE/ZF 2/25 feels most of the times too wide, even it's real focal length is 26mm. (reading this please keep in mind that I suck at wide angle shooting, I feel more "home" with normal lenses and short teles). Maybe there will be native FE mount manual focus 28mm Zeiss one day - thou that will be 2015 before we get those lenses so better concentrate to what we have and keep shooting, and later figure out the ideal wide angle lens.
The FE55 looks quite disappointing based on first samples seen - big LoCa and some other issues.
(let's see after 12mths this post and laugh - I would be surpriced if I wouldn't have FE35 or FE55 or both...)
