For me, Bokeh is not the quantity of the blur but quality of the blur That is my view change on this during last two years and no longer chasing super fast lens anymore, at least not just by speed and why I love this lens so much.

I really want dump my S, but I don't get results like these from other camera, at least so consistently.
100cron all WO
70 WO
and 35mm S
Lovely images!
I miss my S-006 and 35/45/70/100/120 soo soo much. If I was guaranteed that the whole system wouldn't malfunction or break for the next ten years I'd buy it back without a second thought. But way to many issues over the few years I owned the system to stop me from ever going back.
There are no guarantees but Leica does have a permanent fix in place for the lenses.
I know you've got your reasons but I almost got out of Leica and then decided I wasn't going to use a camera I didn't like because of a service facility of Leicas. Shoot what you want. Screw the politics...
I'm just hoping a mirrorless solution comes up that will take those lenses.

Yeah hands down the best lenses I've used. And I still think the S-006 sensor is the best I've used too. To those who don't mind repair times, or are not relying on their gear then I'd highly recommend the S-006 + any of the S-lenses.
Would be cool to see a mirrorless version of the S w/some smaller lenses but I doubt we'll get something like that. Leica has a lot going right now. M/T/S/SL it would be difficult for them to introduce another system at this point. Especially since even with their new factory they can't keep up with demand.

I keep my S2 as a backup to my 007. For what I could get for it it seems easier to have the backup.
You wouldn't need a new system for the S to go mirrorless. Just replace the mirror with an EVF and use the same glass. Camera is the same size but lighter. Done. Although personally I'd like the grip a bit deeper.
And S lenses AF quite well on the SL so autofocus with those lenses won't be an issue. SAF only, of course.
I think that Leica's strong point is it's stable of f2.5 S lenses. New cameras NEED to be able to use that glass.
Then a set of f4.5 glass a 250mm, some wide T/S lenses and an improvement on the woeful 30-90....

Yeah the 35/70/120 lenses were a really strong start for the S-system. I'm not going to comment anymore on the reliability issues or promises of permanent fixes because I'm kinda done with that, BUT I do honestly miss the S-glass.
Even the 100S which was the last lens I owned and most used with the S-adapter SL.. Was wonderful on the SL despite the SL being a "crop" camera to that lens.
---- A thinner lighter/smaller S would be good, but you'd still need the flange distance to use the current S lenses. So I guess maybe just the mirror box prism etc removed. BUT to be honest I don't mind the OVF of the S at all.. In fact I kinda liked that about the system.----
Beautiful work! Now, if you would like to swap your X1D for my P645D then just PM me....I'm willing to fork out for new lenses if the trade is acceptable!
