The S-E is not ridiculously cheap. And the S-006 + 70S is priced as it should have been priced.
I'm sure we'll see a lot more S-System owners over the next few months. At least, I'm hoping.. Since the system is wonderful in the hand with great colors and top notch lenses.

David, those color look great. I think we are sharing the same sensor, do we? My past experience of color checker is not positive. For the camera with color problem, the problem persist. and people do have their own preference and not all people have the same sensitivity regarding color. So, whenever discuss color of camera, there is never a happy ending
general speaking, I prefer camera have color match my vision to start with.(simple WB will get me close to final) I am less sensitive to landscape color as those are highly depend on lighting and hard to judge right or wrong. (not to say there is no difference, I am just more tolerant to those.) What Leica S2 indeed bring me some surprise is skin tone out of camera, it is very easy to deal with most of time, a few WB adjust, contrast is already giving me real looking. occasionally, just a few adjust for orange, yellow, red hue/lum slider to taste.
I have used too many different cameras at different price point, different brand. To say all cameras will have the same color with good profile is very laughable to me, at least to me.
Thanks for sharing your experience with ColorChecker etc. I wasn't claiming or expecting that each camera I use will give the same or even similar colour, however I remain an 'eager investigator' of better results where possible.
I've been learning how tolerant or otherwise ColorChecker is of the various shots I've taken of the colour matrix (I forget the official title of that spectral set). I've also found how to load new ICC files into C1 Pro although I'm sceptical (English spelling!) of the situation whereby Phase One clearly supports its own digital cameras/sensors more than any competitors.
I haven't shot the P645D in the last 5 days or so due family priorities.
Hey guys just picked a used Phase 645DF and a P40+ back. It comes with mamiya 80mm f2.8 and I plan on grabbing the Schneider 80mm F2.8 LS for the camera. Was wondering on recommendations on lenses for this system. I had planned on grabbing a hasselblad, but couldn't beat this deal on the camera, lens & digital back deal. The Schneider LS lenses seem to be a lot more expensive the the Hasselblad HC lenses. I shoot primarily people and was wondering if the 80mm schneider lens would be enough. I hear good things about the 120mm macro and 150mm.

I expect the 120mm to be exactly like every medium format macro; chunky, slow and generally very sharp - you could probably toss a coin to determine which company makes the best one.
The 150mm is considered to be the sharpest lens Phase/Mamiya make, not counting the SK lenses, and on par with the macro at equal apertures, so you certainly wouldn't be disappointed by it. Since the P40+ has the same sensor size as the Pentax 645D/Z, I would say that 150mm produces an angle of view that's a bit too narrow for my taste, I never did quite like the Canon 135L for portraiture as much as the 85L due to the difference in working distances, but some people use 200mm lenses for portraits, so YMMV.
If I were to theoretically buy into a Phase system, I'd go with the SK 110mm, simply because of the more comfortable focal length and the leaf shutter feature, which the 150mm lacks. It's also Phase's sharpest lens bar none.
I would actually consider fleshing out your system more on the wide side of things with the 55mm 2.8, as it's my most-used lens on the 645Z, and is fairly good for full-body and environmental portraiture. For head shots and waist-up portraiture the 80mm is fine as it is.
My phase one p40+ back with phase one 645df and 80mm Schneider just came in wasn't expecting it until next week. I am extremely excited! The condition is a lot better then I thought it would be. Things I noticed, holy crap the optical view finder is gigantic!! A lot bigger then the pentax 645d. Only problem is that it had a crop frame so you know what's gonna be captured in the frame. Man I wish this viewfinder was in my d810. Manual focusing is so easy and a lot better then peaking in mirroless. Lol like everyone has said the small lcd screen is useless and only good for histogram. The pictures look different from the computer when I shot tethered into the MacBook pro retina. Which means I should only be shooting tethered which i planning and just view them on a iPad through capture pilot. Still can't wait to actually use the 1/1600th leaf shutter function, but it's gonna be awesome for sure! Will update you with photos when I get a gig going!
S-006 + 120APO Macro @ 2.5 Santa Monica Pier a while back:
(double post on M/X/T/S/Q image thread... Also both guys skin really was that weird orange-brown color. One worse then the other.. And the orange sun didn't help)
Thank you sir! Will do post some pictures!
I am actually going up to big sur on the 13th actually for my birthday. So hopefully I'll get some use up there, but right now I ownly have the 80mm Schneider ls for the camera. The crop makes it probably around 60-65mm on a 35mm. So it's not that wide, but hopefully I can find some old use mamiya lenses in some local stores. Got a 120mm macro Af coming in soon!

Big sur This is four vertical 35mm Summarit images stitched with lee stopper. I can cover my whole wall with it
Took a quick snapshot of my friend Garrett yesterday in my studio. Both of us were shocked at how rich and colorful the picture came out compared to nikon d810 and zeiss 55mm 1.4 otus. Definitely not as sharp as the Nikon/Otus, but the colors and skin tones were noticeably better. The focus was terrible on this camera lol, it wasn't easy at all to focus with the modeling light on. Shooting at 2.8 was also very difficult.
I hate to say it, but i think the nikon d810/55mm otus has nothing on the 6-7 year old p40+ when shot at base iso and controlled environment. Very happy with my purchase considering i got the camera, lens and back for only $4k =P A lot cheaper then a nikon/otus for sure!!

Nice image, I agree with you about the file look. You are seeing the difference mostly from sensor I believe.
OTUS is a great lens, but it is also happen to be a very neutral one, this could be plus or minus depend on situation. I went through my recent China vacation pictures shoot from that lens and really like the results. I will share a few of them when I come out of mood pissing off by Zeiss.
Having said that, if Leica S offer a lens at this speed and performance, I'd happily spend $$$ on it. 70mm Summarit is hard to be complained, it has great performance, sharp to extreme corner at WO, great bokeh and color but I wish it can be one stop faster. Leica S glass seems having a right balance between sheer optic performance and character to my surprise,(considering its modern M offering) but as mentioned here and elsewhere the rendering has to be considered with the system that lens was used on.
There are lots of trade off between bulk MF gear and DSLR or MILC camera. We just need pick our path and enjoy whatever bring us the most enjoyment
Totally agree on the Otus 55mm its a fantastic lens with almost zero flaws to it, but the colors are extremely neutral. i really wanted to pick up a Leica s2, but I am extremely spoiled with capture one and it is an essential tool in all my shoots now. I'll definitely miss having a screen that I could actually see pictures on, but with capture pilot and a iPad i can see the pictures on a bigger screen . People weren't kidding when they said the screen is only usable for the histogram haha. I am not interested in upgrading to a iq140 for 8000 dollars more with trade in. I'll take a iPad attached to a tripod over a 3.2 inch touch screen with the same sensor lol.
it really sucks to hear about what happened to your otus 55mm and the service repair they quoted you. I really love my ZEISS otus, but I might sell it for a 55mm Schneider ls lens.
Alexluu627 - It also appears that you missed focus on the eye slightly. So you might be pleasantly surprised with the sharpness from the lens once you get use to the focusing... One of the quirks of the S-006 system. The focusing is accurate for the most part, but a bit slow. So choices are manual focus, or static subjects.
I was going to buy back the Otus lenses. But after zhangyue's experience (he's not the only one I've heard this from) I've decided to go for a 100 Summicron-S instead. So I'll try to get some sample images up in the next few weeks, since theirs not a lot of samples floating around the net.

The focus on this system is extremely bad tbh, I went outside to my orange tree and couldn't focus on one orange. I just the biggest orange i had and it kept hunting focus which is extremely bad. I would rate the phase one 645DF AF worse then the sony A7R in lowlight (And that is frustrating bad.)
In general there isn't a lot of pictures of medium format pictures at all. I'll try to post more pictures, but I usually only get to shoot when its a paid job. I don't have kids or live in a interesting place to shoot landscapes. So you typically wont see pictures much from me as my next shoot 2 shoots are in the books and being prepped. Will upload pictures when i get a chance =P
