I really like the movement of the water and the tonal range and variety throughout these images.

Thank you Bruce, always love going there in the spring and fall. Been tough to get the time to do it the past couple of years, but I've been fortunate to have been going there for probably 25 years or more.

Here are a few shots taken while hiking with my family yesterday at Ricketts Glen. A lot more people were there, as expected on the weekend, and it was breezier than Friday. Didn't take too many shots, but these were keepers.

Wow.. Another beautiful set of images.
The first in this series is definitely my favorite of the bunch... I love how the water comes off the large triangular rock.

bruce

Yes, this is quite a unique waterfall, and often looks nicer with a higher than average flow of water. That triangular rock sort of reminds me of a red maple leaf, at least in my head. It's the easiest waterfall to access at Ricketts Glen, so I always try to stop there when I visit.

No, these were shot from a tripod with either a CPL or dark CPL to hold the shutter open long enough to blur the water a bit. It's a game of holding the shutter open long enough to get the effect you want, but not holding it open so long that the breezes move the foliage around too much. It doesn't take much wind to make the foliage move, and when there is a lot of water, these bigger falls actually produce their own breeze.

I'm hoping to get back again when the water levels are more average, but before things dry up this summer. During the summer, it's much harder to hit it with the right conditions where there is decent water flow.

More from my roadtrip that began traversed the redwoods and Oregon coast.
I tend to focus on "pretty things" in nature, but am looking for ways to push myself to see differently. The decision to invest in some MF digital gear was part of this journey.

The image presented was something that I envisioned when I saw this root clump. To get to this point, I had to do quite a bit of masking, but I saw the "tree hugger" in the root cluster and wanted to emphasize that part of the structure.

cheers,
bruce

I got my TTArtisan M-to-X1D adapter yesterday.

I had to disassemble it and fiddle with the shim that keeps the M-lens in place. It was very tight first and I couldn't attach any lens to it, and without the shim, the lens would be loose and rattle. It's quite nice after adjustment, keeps lenses firmly at place but isn't too tight.

I was skeptical though that any of my M lenses would cover the whole Hasselblad sensor, but to my surprise, both Voigtländer f1.2 Nokton's in 35mm and 50mm vignettes heavily but draws a full image. For the rest of my M lenses (including LLL Speed Panchro), crop mode has to be used.

Here's a few quick snapshots with 100C + 35mm Nokton wide open:

Recently picked up a second hand XF IQ3 100 kit and took it on a trip to the Oregon coast to shoot a Airbnb place for a friend. We travelled around a bit and took some nature shots of the area. Got a decent shot of Multnomah Falls. Phase One XF, IQ3 100 back, 28mm 4.5F

You've captured the foggy northern California redwood coast beautifully, Bruce, I really enjoy your peaceful landscapes and the memories they bring

Thank you Kalani,
One works with the light nature gives you... I'm a big fan of muted tones and simple color palettes. I'm hoping to take a similar trip in the winter. I'd prefer the shorter days and later sunrises...

I'll try and post more!

I am new to phase one stuff overall but am loving it. I sold off my canon 5D miv and lenses and made the jump. I also shoot a Mamiya RZ Pro II and have a digital back converter for it so I might have some shots from that to share as well!

What do you shoot?

Most are using Hasselblad X and Fuji GFX. I wanted a bigger sensor, an OVF, and was curious about the Kodak-manufactured sensors, which is why I picked the Hasselblad H3Dii-39. Doesn't hurt that the H system lenses are really affordable for medium format, too - e.g. I paid 650€ for my HCD 28mm.

Not using the Hasselblad it often enough tbh, but I'll try to do better

Here are some pictures (most of them also posted in this thread at some point):
