Here are break down list based on priority making this camera for me.
1. IBIS. This largely open the shooting envelop as well as adaptability with other glasses, especially long glass.
2. Smaller size make it more manageable than GFX50S or Leica S. I only buy OEM 30 and 45 for smaller size and IQ. Don't want big primes for now.
3. Shutter implementation: shutter is soft with very fast response.
4. IQ, I will leave technical review for more capable person but this is the best sensor I ever worked. The color is extreme stable for process so are BW file. Channel mix for this sensor is really works that BW file can go any direction you want take it based on your preference without collapse.
5.multiway LCD implementation. (GFX50S is the same here)
This camera is quite disruptive for my gear selection. I don't shoot sports bird or want to rely on fancy AF, the camera make FF MILC unnecessary even I enjoy SL2 a lot for adapt M glasses and using Auto sigma/Panasonic. Not that it can replace it but just less likely I will reach SL2 which will become a luxury add on. This one seems largely can replace most of FF if not all for certain people. I will keep Z for 28e/58/105e trio though.
The con of FUJI would be lens speed, size and the hardware build quality. You won't be impressed with FUJI's build quality with your X1D in hand but I have to say, this is the type of tool you want to reach without emotion involved as it truly delivers.
On the other hand, It really only can't replace S for me personally. Here It is about find a system you enjoy to pick it up and shoot for whom can allow to have multiple systems. I enjoy using S's OVF whenever the condition allow. S glasses are in another league IMHO for the look. The good thing is I can at least shoot them wide open on GFX and take advantage of IBIS. I will patiently wait for a smart adapter for S to GFX.
Thank you for your detailed response. Might wait and see if prices come down a bit. Quiet happy with IQ on my X1DII and really enjoy using it. I'm just considering whether I add a FF camera like the Z7II or A7RIV for something more suitable for the occasional action shot or when I need a longer tele lens or if I outlay a lot more and add the GFX100S with adapted teles.

AF is not what GFX100S shine IMHO, I rated it lower than SL2 which is not good comparing to many FF competition but it is much better than X1DII in term of smoothness and speed If you enjoy X1DII, then it must means its design suit you and its flaw doesn't bother you. In that sense, I think not many can overdo X1DII for what is shine for. Enjoy!
I enjoyed your comment and I actually quite enjoy the 907x /cfv ii 50c. I have longed followed the "Alternative Cameras" forum on FM and also post on getdpi.com, and I have enjoyed your photos since long. I have longed enjoyed your photos since Leica Mx days and the Sx days. I have had a similar journey, Canon 5Dx, Leica M8/M9, early Sony Alpha + Leica lens mess, back to what matters, Leica Q2, Hasselblad CFV II 50C. another Silicon Valley engineer enjoying the peace and quietness of cameras that makes one deliberate.
Definitely by chance, but planned for the guy shooting her with a drone and camera. She ran to the Rock and he was taking photos. I got a few quick snaps as she came back.
