I built a machine to slowly zoom the lens from 14 to 24mm over 4 hours. The foreground image is taken as normal with no zoom, the camera was then moved past the windmill for an unobstructed view of the sky. The sky images are stacked and then combined with the foreground image using contrast masking.

The windmill is really appropriate for the star trails which is spiral...
