Love it! Really hoping to make it up there in a couple of weeks. Don't know if I'll go iif the Feds don't get things worked out.
I think the Great Smoky would not be at the peak for another 3-4 weeks. In case it is still shutdown situation at that time, I would suggest BRP (Blue Ridge Parkway) where I hear that very similar to the Smoky's and there are many overlooks as well.

You are an outlaw! Really, the opposing diagonals, repeating patterns, and blue tones, with the hint of fiery skies -- you hit on so many critical elements.
Yes? Am I an outlaw??!! Yuppy.
I was looking for all those, the opposing diagonals, repeating patterns, and blue tones, with the hint of fiery skies from this area. And... I got it. Broke the law as well in doing so.
They can't have been too serious about keeping out if it's just some cones.
Hello Ed,
Thanks for your comments. In one big parking lot, I saw a park ranger coming toward me. I waved at him and got into the car. Then He went back to his car. However, after that incident, still I took a chance when I saw this sunset... well while I was taking pictures, some other people also ventured in..
Stupid shutdown!

I love the colors and the comp, Kee .
The lack of sharpness, though, does bother me .
One of the main reasons the United States of America came into existence was because we the people are sometimes inclined to ignore dumb government regulations.
And we've always been like that.
Walking past a few cones and a dumb sign to photograph a sunset is the right thing to do .
