Fantastic collection - this is on my list to do and you have reinforced it. Unfortunately ( ), I am heading for a remote island in the high arctic to look for muskox, and it will have to wait.

The Ptarmigan steals the show though Dorian, wow wow and wow on this one

thanks ken. the puffins seem to vary their patterns year to year. the colony has apparently doubled in the last few years so there are more birds now. many made the short flight over to the little peninsula from that little island.

I spent 2-weeks exploring all around the "Rock," but did so as a traveler and not a wildlife photographer.
I also had a wonderful time there (some of the friendliest people on earth)- but I sure didn't get any wildlife shots like these .

thanks for checking out the post. i wish i had got a few flight shots of the arctic terns, but the weather and the car crash behind me squashed that idea! oh well, you can't win them all.

thanks bb! the puffins were really too cute for words as they fumbled about on the cliff edge. my girlfriend sat watching them (and the 50 or so humpback whales just offshore behind them!) for 6 hours while i shot. a really great spot for sure

thanks herb! i see eagles all the time but there just aren;t that many good place to shoot them up here. i am always envious of the shot you post so its nice to try my hand at a few of my own. i almost soiled myself when i saw him coming down the cliff towards me!

thanks socrate! the puffins just stayed on the cliff edge the whole time. this let me use the OOF water in the background of all of my shot., i kinda wish i had some with more green or even more rock, but they didn't take my direction as well i had wished!

glad to hear the post was useful harry! the trick with elliston is just to wait out the crowds that will be there during the middle of the day. also, i pulled out all my gear and put it as a barrier to people getting to close to the birds. since i have a lot of gear, it made me look kinda serious and official and i think this helped to keep people from trying to approach the birds to close which could have scared them off. good luck, you'll have to post your shots when you return!
