Only slightly, if you look at the above example it's not too bad, it's totally useable.
Yes it's useable and rather good for being a lens for crop bodies. But it's not the same as a normal 35mm lens for FF like you wrote. It has more vignetting than a normal 35 FF lens shot at the same aperture.
There have also been other pics with FF in threads here at FM

The Zeiss 35/2 says 'hello'.
So you can use the Zeiss 35/2 at f/1,8 Great news for you, but the rest of the world can't do that. Zeiss have the ZE 35/1,4 that we can use at f/1,8. And it have less vignetting than this Sigma zoom

I own the the Zeiss lens. Yes it has a lot of vignetting. But less than the Sigma lens on FF. I have not been using the Sigma so I'm only comparing against the pics that I have seen from the Sigma lens.

You miss the point. The point I was making was that a slower lens *made* for FF has more vignetting than a faster lens (which typically has more vignetting wide open) "designed for APS-C".
Meaning, just because a lens fits X or Y mount doesn't give a completely accurate assessment of how it will vignette Typically, yes, it would vignette more, but seems that's not always the case.
(that said, I still loved the Zeiss 35/2)

But the Zeiss 35/2 doesn't have more vignetting ! So I also missed the point ? What was the point then Or did you claim the Zeiss has more vignetting than the Sigma on FF ?

Whatever the case, the vignetting among the aforementioned lenses is insignificant overall. At least in my case I know I can use the Sigma 35 1.8 on full frame and produce great quality images that my clients will be happy with (and of course use it on my 1D Mark IV as well). That's all that matters to me.

Interesting. So, it's:
35mm 1.8 on full frame
24-45mm equivalent 1.8 on 1.3 crop, with some vignetting at the wide end
28-50mm equivalent 1.8 on APS-C
Sounds very interesting for a PJ with a full frame camera with 1.3 and 1.5x crop modes, if one's willing to sacrifice resolution. (I believe no Canons have these but, of the current generation, the Nikon D4 and D800 do).

Yup, and of course Canon's 1D series (with the exception of the 1DX and 1Ds bodies) are all 1.3x, so as a photojournalist, who was debating between a 24, 28 and 35 prime as well, it's quite a treat.

Yeah maybe I'm mistaken - I thought the FF Sigma shot wasn't vignetting that much, but of course this is after post work so who knows?
I figured the ZE 35/2 vignetted so much on FF, there is no way nothing would beat it

Just bumping this thread to see if any more members have tried this lens on their 1.3 sensor cameras. I'd love to see more samples too, if possible. Thanks!

I doubt they're worried. I mean, every time I try to find a Sigma lens for some application, I find that it fails in one way or another compared to one or more Canon lenses. I don't mean to dig at Sigma, that's just what I keep running into.
Hi John,
Not to start a war, but I am curious as to how you're defining "fail" here. I've been shooting Sigma glass for quite a few years now (see my profile) and have yet to meet with any, um, failure with any of my Siggy's. So, um, what is it that you're "running into"? Truly, I'm not looking to pick a fight, just...

I should say, 'fail to meet my expectations for purchase'. I started with their 50/1.4, but as I considered other lenses, I found it rather difficult to find Sigma lenses that didn't have some kind of issue that turned me off.
I should add, there are a number of lenses that have my interest for various applications. However, I'm personally not in a hurry. I'm definitely excited to see what they come up with in their 'New World Vision' series.

Thanks for the samples Cody, much appreciated. Do you have any at the wide end of the range, 18 to 24mm? How good is it wide open? How do you like the build and AF speed?
