Whether I send money or not to someone has nothing to do with if they are subscribed to the B&S board. I base my decision on the different ways they communicate, and all the back up info they give me that I am able to corroborate. This may be a hacked account (although all the sales and feedback are very recent, and his photog accounts show both canon and nikon equipment, so that checks out), but again, if there is no substantial internet trail you can follow, then you need more personal info, or you don't do the deal.
There are 2 involved in a transaction, nobody else, and both parties have to do their part. Smart scammers will get around alot of this, but there are not that many smart scammers, most just post a volume of wtb/wts like a fish net and they see what happens.
I hope you all get your money back, or you actually get your merchandise, and I am sure Fred will do his usual great job in looking into this for you, but ultimately it is not his responsibility either.
BTW, if you get your claim resolved and get your money back, and still want a 7D, I will have mine up for sale soon. I hope my feedback speaks for itself, although you might not like my answers here on this subject (I have a bad habit of trying to not jump the gun on what I say of others, comes with old age).
In any case, it has been a great 7D and even has the optional locking mode dial (get so very tired of having that dial rotate in the bag).
Good luck, hopefully you all hear something soon one way or another.
My iNero account was hacked by someone who resides in Canada.. Posted items on my behalf , changed my profile and then used my feedback to argue his legitimacy.
Once upon a time .. a few years ago .. I paid for a purchase via funds in Paypal account. I figured - what's the difference right?
Well.. I got screwed -- didn't get merchandise and seller stopped responding.
I file claim with Paypal - and they say hey - you're right - you win the case - congratulations! Right? Wrong --- they were unable to recover the money from the seller's account and so I never got a refund.
I quote "We have decided in your favor, however, we were unable to recover any funds from the seller's account. As stated in the PayPal User Agreement, recovery of funds associated with a Buyer Complaint cannot be guaranteed."
Great .. so now I never use Paypal funds. Always CC. If I have money in my account when I need to make a payment I empty it out first.

Still nothing. As for you TeamSpeed, I think it might be in your best interest to not play moderator every where you go. If I was wrong, I'd be happy to say so in open forum and provide excellent feedback for him but if someone possibly screwed me, is refusing to respond and I'm just trying to help my friends here on FM and POTN, then I have that right.
POTN has removed my thread and basically threatened to ban me if I speak of it again. Just so you all know.
he also contacted me on POTN where I posted a WTB ad. Offered me his item for a very good price - but then disappeared. I didn't send him any money - I actually wasn't going to, without proper investigation. WTB ads seem to attract all sorts of scam.

POTN? buch of stupid Mods there. They banned me just because i removed the price after the thread sold/closed.
as for your case, as long as you don't use paypal gift, just escalate the case to paypal. Paypal will give him few days to respond back with tracking info and they will credit back your money. Even if the guy doesn't have fund in his account, he will have a negative balance and he will not be able to open new account until he take care that negative balance. Be patient.
Good to see you bubble, we did business years ago.
Yeah I've escalated and they are awaiting the sellers response. I am just trying to prevent any further scams...he has been on since I posted this and he didn't respond. POTN sucks and if they ban me, I don't care! I only went to POTN to check with the other user name.

Paypal has a sad history of freezing accounts arbitrarily for months at a time. Now, I don.'t know if they've changed their ways lately, but I personally refuse to keep a dime in my account.
Any money is immediately transferred to my bank account and any purchase through Paypal is made with a credit card.
What, if any, are the advantages of keeping money in your Paypal account?
yes i also dealt with Dandanda and we were supposed to meetup in nyc so he can buy my d800e but he never showed up and never called but i am happy i never sent him any money..
