Three weeks ago I purchased (and can provide receipt for) a Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 OS DG lens before leaving on a 10 day trip to Costa Rica. I did NOT take this lens with me as it exceeded my carry-on size and weight limits and I did not want to check any bags (smooth sailing at the airports).
That being said, I have a brand new, never used Sigma 120-300mm OS DG for sale. I'm more comfortable with the 70-200 range of glass, so I think I'm just going to purchase one of those. Comes in everything, with everything. Price at BH Photo is $2500.00, I will go down to $2200.00 shipped if anyone is interested. Just a heads up on the weight, It is a reall comforatble 6.5 pounds, It is nice to have grip on the camera for better control. I have personally used the lens for hours in the field hand held. My point is it is a nicely balance lens and super sharp.
It also has the advantage of a panning OS position. This is great for items in motion.
