I've been away from the forum for a while and just got back from Italy. These were taken before I left, during my last visit to Viera Wet.
Black-bellied Whistling Ducks can be found in the very Southern part of US and last couple of years they seem to have expanded their breeding range throughout Florida.
Due to their peculiar habits they have been described as the most "un-duck-like" of all the ducks. Also known as Black-bellied Tree Duck they like to perch in trees and make their nest in tree cavities. As you can notice in some of these, their webbed feet have sharp talons to help them perch on branches.

Beautiful set, Socrate, I thought initially you might show some Italian species, but these seem pretty exotic! I'm usually a sucker for IF shots, but in this set, my favorites are the first one (for the composition), and the fourth (for the colors). I guess both of these shots also may highlight some unusual aspects of the species.

Do you think/know if the first shot shows a mating pair? (I guess this species is unusual in that it lacks sexual dimorphism).

And, I don't think I've seen many ducks standing on one leg, probably because I don't see too man ducks standing still!

Great job Socrate, we don't see these guys too often around on the forum. 2 hanging on the edge is my favorite. He looks like he is getting ready to do a backwards dive!! They sure are unique with the clawed and webbed feet, not something you see in ducks, seabirds yes but not usually in ducks. Superb set my friend, a treat for the eyes.

I hope Italy was fun!!!!!!!!!

MKIV with 400 is one sweet combo Socrate and the last IF is one sweet shot my friend. Looks like 7D w/2x is maxed out and just missing the mark on sharpness a bit.
I do like their coloring and I do like your sky

Welcome back, Italy sounds like a wonderful place to be! In fact one of my good customers just baked and brought me an Italian meat pie...............wow what a treat it is!
