Beautiful set, Socrate, I thought initially you might show some Italian species, but these seem pretty exotic! I'm usually a sucker for IF shots, but in this set, my favorites are the first one (for the composition), and the fourth (for the colors). I guess both of these shots also may highlight some unusual aspects of the species.
Do you think/know if the first shot shows a mating pair? (I guess this species is unusual in that it lacks sexual dimorphism).
And, I don't think I've seen many ducks standing on one leg, probably because I don't see too man ducks standing still!
Thank you, Greg. Didn't have much time at all to shoot in Italy. It wasn't in my program anyway
Yes, I believe the first shot is a mating pair. There were quite a few pairs around all standing on trees.
Their legs is what makes them less "duck". Not the usual short legs

Socrate posting DUCKS!!!! Oh wait, they are "un ducklike" Okay, then all is well
Great job Socrate, we don't see these guys too often around on the forum. 2 hanging on the edge is my favorite. He looks like he is getting ready to do a backwards dive!! They sure are unique with the clawed and webbed feet, not something you see in ducks, seabirds yes but not usually in ducks. Superb set my friend, a treat for the eyes.
I hope Italy was fun!!!!!!!!!
Tim
You know I'm not a fan of ducks, but, as you said, these are different. Plus it was the first time I saw this bird so, it was more curiosity then anything else and they do whistle when they fly!
Thanks for the good words, my friend Italy was good, yes.
Socrate
Rare to see this Duck on the board Socrate and appreciate seeing these
Love the IF's but I think my favorite is the 1000mm shot with that wonderful color and BG

Thank you, Birdie. This is the first time I saw and heard these birds. Whistling ducks is a very appropriate name
Thanks for the warm welcome. The trip to Italy was great
