I was stunned to see him swallow that eel, and it was longer than the bird. Alas he had drifted a long way downstream when he swallowed it, so I didn't capture a shot. Needless to say he couldn't take off

The local club (it's located about 1 mile from my house) holds a speed event each summer for what are known as EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) jets. These things can be very fast & are relatively small & a real challenge to keep in the viewfinder. It's the only event of it's kind in Canada and it's on again in a week & a half. Many of the planes are foam (advanced forms of styrofoam) or composite to keep them as light as possible. Wingspans range from under 24 inches to maybe 60 inches (very few are that big). These are from last years event which I shot just after getting my mark 4.
