Lovin' the many AF points of the 5D3..... especially when using AI servo on a very active, tiny bird.
Olive-backed Sunbird (Nectarinia jugularis, male, about 4-1/2" total length)
Shooting info - 5D MIII + 400 f2.8 IS + 2x TC II, 800mm, f/5.6, ISO 1250, 1/500 sec,
manual exposure in available light, AI servo, 475B + 516 support, near full frame resized to 1500x1000.

Beautiful image. Another of your colorful, interesting, and unusual (to me) birds.

Romy, that is a wonderful little bird, and you got her sharp and clear as a bell.
Your 400 f/2.8 IS + 2xTC is doing a great job for you......makes me wonder if you still have the Sigmonster ?

Thanks, Peter.
I already sold my Sigmonster a couple of years ago. I miss its framing flexibility, especially when shooting bird video where a 2x TC does more good than harm (IQ with a 2x is still great, plus moire in fine feather detail is reduced by the doubler).
personally I think it all depends on what you are using it for. if you are trying to make a bear at 500 yards look close and hoping for wonderful details, etc,,you are pissin the wind,, all kinds of things working against you, dust, atmosphere, heat waves, even in -20 degrees on snow! but if you are shooting a titmouse at 15 yards and want him closer, sure, it works just fine,,, depends on the usage,,and what you are trying to accomplish
