just a great collection of stuff conrad! i think the bobwhite is my favorite. these are getting rarer and rarer across their entire range. i hardly ever see them in the northeast anymore, sadly. looks like it was an amazing trip! fyi, your curve-billed thrashed is actually a long-billed thrasher. curved-billed is grayer with much paler spots.....
Many excellent images. Great story. I've heard of this area from a serious birder here. Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your adventure.
Great to see the 'behind the scenes' action but I have to say the birds are the stars here for me. As usual every image of yours is simply sensational: great exposure, colour, detail, some super compositions, top notch backgrounds.
I for one look forward to seeing the shots from your next visit to this ranch.

What only 40, you must be tired or something. Awesome work CT. It looks like a great trip. South Texas is actually on my list. I'm hoping to get the painted bunting and few others there. I started to make picks, but there were too many. sorry.
Well Conrad I’m glad to see you have recovered. This set is a delight to view. About 20% of the images show some sharpening halos so while this is darn good in could be better and I nitpick as I know you do this to yourself. I totally enjoyed this post, you told the story well with your wonderful images. You will not catch me there at 100f.
