from previous trips to new zealand 2x in 2011, 2012, and to iceland, i have made it a habit to keep some photos to bring out once I am on rest mode. sharing some from as way back as march of 2011 which I just uploaded to my PC this week, as well as some recent ones.
next up is a winter trip to NZ to conduct a workshop and safari, a photo tour in iceland with iurie belegurschi, and a month long trip to patagonia. which would be my final trip. I hope.

An Autumn Tree
from memory lane which I have only brought out today this week my files. first time and only time, I have seen pink cloud. (often times its pink cloudless sky) I thought it only happens on really clear alpine light, but tekapo is just an amazing place for color, mood, drama, aurora, alpen light and different cloud formations. The tree here isn't there anymore last I checked.

Metallic
some more shots from my first trip to NZ last march 2011. this one after we had just landed after a helicopter ride with my wife and friend from wellywood Neil Martinez. I was 35 lbs heavier back then and had to climb up a gravel hill past the helipad to get to this area. It was just amazing to see the color of a glacier river mixed with a some fiery red clouds over the western side of the alps.the water lured me in with its color, gray and red seems to be a good combo for mood. and I exposed the water way longer than typical river shutters as a wanted it to look like molten aluminum.

The Stance
this one taken last 2012 Nov in Glenorchy, I was traveling with 3 friends and had just finished a workshop in Auckland. Had 8 days of fun in south island, and surprisingly, we had 8 full days of amazing weather. It was maybe 30/100 of cloud and sunny everyday so there was no much chance for moody landscape except for that one morning in milford sound.

before all the cloud cleared up in hooker valley it looked like this, and all the mountains were completely covered down to the water just 30 mins before this shot. an amazing day with Aoraki.

Beneath an Icon
last shot this way from the other side of the globe in Iceland, a monochrome shot of kirkjufell after I had spend the whole mid morning taking it in infrared, this was a tough shot to negotiate as kirkjufell changes cone shape with each slight move, its actually not that sharp here anymore compared to shooting from the top left of the hill. I kept on getting spray on my camera and my tripod had only two legs on the floor and one completely horizontal and sticked to back wall with a sharp stud just so I could make space for myself at the back to compose and shoot.

Stunning shots! The locations are amazing! The last shot is quite unique. The first shot is very pleasing with a smooth and subtle tonality and delicate colors.
Shot #3 seems like it would be absolutely amazing at night! I would try it!
