Bee-eater sand bathing I have witnessed earlier as well. They do this individually or as two or three. However, during my resent visit to Wilpattu national park I was able to witness first time a large flock of Bee-eaters (nearly 40-50) sand bathing together. This was quite remarkable and I first took few shots and did two short video clips as well. I rarely use the video function in my 7D. Nevertheless, I felt to do certain justice to the moment that I need to video record it as well. Both still shots and videos were done in very low light. It was almost closing time of the National Park. Hope you enjoy the captures and the video clip.
Great stuff, Jude.
Beautiful birds and images, and an interesting insight to their lives.
Wildlife is so fascinating in so many ways. Short of water? Bathe in dirt.
How many young boys have tried to make the same switcheroo?
And failed .
