I'm the original owner. I used to shoot the DMR and had purchased this to replace my Canon 400mm f/2.8L IS when I switched, but alas, never got to use it. Was hoping to keep for the Leica M240 but have decided to pass on that body.
Will work on the Leica M digital with the new adapter and take advantage of the ROM circuit. Will also work on a Canon with a simple adapter.

- 400/560/800mm Apo-Telyt-R Head
- 2.8/280/400mm focus-module
Less expensive than the latest Canon 400mm f/2.8L.

I never really understood how this system works. So that unit, with the two components, shoots at 400, 560 and 800MM? A zoom, but not a zoom? A link to help this under-educated photog would be appreciated. (Not a tire kicker...I own the R 280/4 APO).

Basically the focus module comes in 1x, 1.4x and 2x and there are two heads, 280 and 400mm f2.8, the last 2 focus modules are essentially an integrated teleconverter and multiple either head by that factor. Nikon used to make a similar system as did many of the manufacturers since it was considered slightly easier than carrying complete lenses, and at the time they were better than teleconverters.
