Great pic! I am still jealous of missing out. I tried to catch the tail end of the storm that night and the minute I went out the storm stopped....go figure. haha
My initial feeling is that it is too bright, but if its not blown out then I think as a large pan that it is fine if not great!
Thank you everyone for all of the kind words. Jim I tried to tone it down by reimporting it into LR and just adjusting the exposure -.75 like you suggested. It tones it down a bit I think and the histogram still looks good across the board. Thoughts?
Hey Mike - indeed the second version is much better in my opinion and probably more representative; the over-exposed first version blew the colors and hid the subtle nuances of the lights -well done! BTW - you do have great captures on your website.
I nearly missed the St. Patrick's Day aurora here in northern Minnesota but woke up just in time (04:00 am central) to go out and shoot for about an hour or so. Certainly the best display since July 2012 for me at least - persistent cloud cover almost all winter obscured other displays the past few months.

I really like your edit, I think it really looks good now! Too bad I already voted for this as my Featured Thread pick, it's worth another vote with the new edits...
