whats your specific need for the d800. They are great cameras and I love them.. but not as much as the d3s I actually prefer the d3s to the d4. The d800 is pretty awesome though!

Moved from dual D3's to D3s's and now the D4/D3s combo didn't feel right - mainly b/c I swap focus method a lot and the switch on the D800 will match the method for the switch on the D4.
I'll also take advantage of the D800's resolution in the studio and still have the D4 for sports/low light/etc.
.... and since I got a refurb'd D800 the $$ difference was about $1k that I'll put towards some lighting equipment.

yes.. it is very nice that the d800 d4 have similar button config.. it is a pain going back and forth.. and the d800 is indeed a pixel monster... you will love it.. the crop mode on in paired with a 200-400 insane!
