Blimey! Scotland was never high on my wish list of places to go, but you're changing that dramatically Ian, and I have a feeling I'm not alone. Consider yourself a FM forum ambassador of Scotland.
Here's a walkabout from yesterday. With or without rocks covered in massive amounts of bird crap? Can't decide...
Thank you I'm don't really do landscapes so I'm in awe of what I see in the landscape forum here. Amazing work and they have tripods and patience and all that stuff.
As for the x100 - I carried a D700 kit around Paris for a few very hot days some years back. Never again! I love my D700 but it doesn't come on holiday any more.
Just received my X100S, and I am really impressed with its capabilities, flexibility, ergonomics and jpeg output. Unfortunately, as a Capture One user (V7.1.1), I am disappointed to learn that X100S is not supported by C1, while the X-Pro1, X-E1, etc are supported. I assume this is due to the differences in X-Trans CMOS II 14bit sensor in X100S vs 12bit sensor in X-Pro1, X-E1, etc.
I have submitted a support case to Phase One requesting raw support for X100S. Anyone using Capture One and anticipating raw support for X100S and/or next round of X-series cameras might consider opening support case with Phase One to request raw support of the new X-Trans II 14bit sensor. (Phase One states on its support forum that requests are important on determining priorities (i.e. if they have 30 requests for raw support of new Pentax model vs 4 requests for Fuji X-Trans II...)
Thank you. When we visited the tide was out and it looked awful but on the way home I saw the tide was in so I stopped for this one picture and I'm glad I did!
oh, little tip for HDR etc with the x100 (whether hand blended or automatic):
Use the ISO bracketing as you get three JPGs from one exposure so no trees move in the meantime. If you use exposure bracketing then trees, cars, people etc will have moved.
